We need to start tweeting nhl and bieksa ect all of the plays where directing puck (or much worse like we have already seen in this thread). What a fffing joke. This has always been called a goal as long as I have been a hockey fan. What a joke.

It looks like he's trying to avoid the net. Nothing about Coleman's body position says kicking motion.

Someone has to take the kick view point on the panel, otherwise it is a pretty bad panel discussion. Bieksa is the sacrificial lamb.

Bieksa doesn't understand the rule. Keeps talking about intent... which is completely irrelevant. You're ALLOWED to intentionally direct the puck in.

To my eye, it's an obvious kick. Not sure how it can even be debated.

You're allowed to direct a puck with your skate. That's the fact that this panel is ignoring, and that's all that Coleman did. There is zero way you can call that a distinct kicking motion.

Such ####ing bull####.

In the rules for a reason. That’s a goal ten out of ten times, unless it’s an oilers clinching game apparently.
I've actually always felt a goal like this shouldn't be a goal, as I do think Coleman knew where his skate was going and intentionally directed it to the puck.

BUTTTT

That isn't the rule and has never been called that way! You can't as a ref just decide that this is the day you're going to change the rule.

This ####ing panel. Of course Coleman knew what he was doing and was trying to score, but he did t distinctly kick it in. It’s just ridiculous.

Definitely not a kicking motion, distinct or otherwise. Extension of a leg while trying to avoid a collision with the post is not kicking
