Going to my second game of the season tonight, the first was the home opener. I'm hoping this isn't the home closer.

I'm taking my niece to her first ever NHL game, she's from Ontario but I think I'm doing a good job of turning her into a Flames fan.

Anyway I'm trying to remain optimistic about the outcome, the Flames have been great in the 'Dome this year. The backs are against the wall but that wall is the C of Red so I know the boys can pull out the W in this one.

Need league average goaltending from Marky and we have a good shot.

Hoping the goalie coaches can settle Markstrom down and get him playing like he was in the Dallas series. Big ask.

I’m looking for anything that gets me out of the fandom funk I’ve been in. Seriously, anything at all.

- No Oilers goals in the first minute? Lovely.
- Score first? Delightful.
- Hope/reason enough not to go to bed after the first period? Sold.

Please hockey gods, I don’t feel like I’m asking for much.

I think Oilers made some defensive zone coverage changes between games 2 and 3.

Oilers started to play a much tighter box in their own end, collapsing a little deeper, similar to how Dallas played us in round one.

It's led to less zone time and more offensive zone turnovers for the Flames IMO.

I mean.. thats literally their strategy all season.
They wont win unless they do.

McDavids line plays just about every 2nd shift.
Essentially

McDavid line
Line 2
McDavid
Line 3
McDavid
Line 4

rinse repeat. They NEED to do this.

Then the Flames should be patient and continue to "shift from hell" them in their own zone, sneaking in a change here and there, until grade A chances start getting on net out of sheer exhaustion from the defence.

Well that plus it's very easy to line match against Calgary since Sutter rolls 4 lines regardless of what happens in the game

Doesn’t feel like the last time I’ll be heading to the Dome to watch the Flames tonight.

5-3 final.

Lindholm
Toffoli
Mangiapane
Stone
Coleman

They only play "defense" after they get the lead. Before then it's the McAvi show.

Always had to win 4. Was always going 7. Oilers just blew their load quickly and won their 3 already.

Good luck with that!

Flames need 5 or 6 tonight to win and overcome Markstrom.

What does it matter? It's working. And if the Flames don't play hard, fast and smart it'll be golf course time.

I don't care what Edmonton is doing we have to do something to counteract it. That comes from coaching and the players. Our best have to be their best tonight. Simple.

Zero confidence in Markstrom.

Anything can happen and just peachy if they win tonight however game 4 was pivotal so when he coughed up that hairball 20 seconds in and spotted the bad guys a 1 zip lead all my enthusiasm drained. 3 wins in a row the way he's playing? Up until that moment "I believed". Ruined that game for me even with the comeback I was not optimistic and sure enough they dropped it.

One at a time I guess and I'll watch with zero expectations. I'm suddenly more interested in my seasons Ski pass sale that I have to pick up before June 17th.

Flames score 6 they win.

Offence needs to be high tempo and finish chances from the start. No point trying to shut the Oilers out - just score at least one more than they do.

Big test of the team's mettle tonight. I think they win this one.

I'm still very confident in this team. They showed all year what happens when they face adversity, and it was always something positive. I also am SUPREMELY confident in Markstrom. I don't care what the stats against one team says, or what happened in recent events. He's an all-world goaltender and he'll get the job done tonight.

Hardest thing is to close out a team. Avs found that out last night.

Empty the tank to win one. Then fill er up and do it all over again.

Game 7 at home. All bets are off.

He's had 11 forwards in 7 of the 11 games so far and a blender with lines because of it.

Oh, not disagreeing. Like I said before the series, the McAvi factor was going to play a large part in how the series went.
