You are just so quick with the I told you so's
Markstrom is having a bad series...he is also a massive reason the Flames are in the 2nd round with home ice and will be 2nd in Vezina voting.
I wasn't defending his series in this thread...if you actually look at the play this game I think it was an improvement. As a Flames fan him playing better is encouraging.
Flames need to win 3 straight, 2 at home.
You start calling me "Marky's #1 fan" for saying it was his best of the series. And please, most of your posts this season were bragging about Sam and the Panthers.
They scored 3 goals in the 2nd round lol and Sam had 3 points in the entire playoffs. Not moving goal posts just saying you might want to take it easy on the I told you so's

I don't think it's narcissistic. People have watched this team put in very poor efforts over the past 30 years. I'm definitely cutting back how much time and money I spend on the Flames next year. Probably cancel Sportsnet and just stick to YouTube highlights, go to fewer games...
I texted a buddy tonight saying the Flames need to win me back... Also I've been enjoying the NHL product less and less over the past few years so that's not helping either.

Of the last 13 cup winning teams all but one (the Blues) had a player taken in the top three selections; all of which played a pivotal role in either the regular season or playoffs. Of those 12 winners, all but one (Tyler Seguin) would be considered generational talents (Crosby, Ovechkin, possibly Kane) or elite players (Stamkos, Malkin, Toews, Hedman, and Doughty).
Meanwhile the Flames have never selected a player in the top three in franchise history. Is this the soul reason we can't hack it... of course not, but recent history shows pretty overwhelmingly that having the opportunity to drop at the top end of the draft gives you a much higher chance of future success than not.
Oh and the Blues had Pieteranglo who was taken 4th overall. I would say that only the Blues and Bruins did it the "right" way, the other teams basically failed their way up.

I think I would have preferred to lose against Dallas than the homers up the highway. Gonna be a long summer. Agree with some other posters that if anyone is gonna choke a 3-1 series lead, it’s the greasers. Go flames go and see you all Thursday!

What’s your contribution now? Pleased to discuss your value add
Edit: Since you asked, Talbot is probably disgruntled with the goalie handling in his city. Go do your homework with that situation

I dunno man, maybe try enjoying the players we have instead of spending your time doing homework on Minnesota Wild backup goalies, patting yourself on the back when a Flames player has a rough go, and trying to use being a “#1 fan” of a player that plays on the team we all cheer for as a diss/dismissal.
Who knows, people might even start to like you

When they win it's the team and when they lose its on him. I am willing to admit Markstrom is having a poor series yet still can't bring yourself admit he had a great regular season. It wasn't that long ago you were mocking me for calling him a Vezina candidate....now you are trying to discredit it.

That’s your contribution?
It took no homework to know how the Talbot / Fleury thing landed. It was right out there

If Kylington picks up the softest player in the league I'm convinced we are talking about how the Flames did just that.
But he didn't and we're not.
It's a results business so no excuses. Sucks.

Flames have a 3rd overall, two 5th overalls, and two 6th overalls on their roster. Gaudreau would also be up there in a redraft. They have the talent.

Nothing but respect and no questions to ask. The shtick grows old. If someone’s digging a little deeper into Markstrom on a game by game or goal by goal basis, “but GAA lol” is weak and tiresome.
You’re better than that, right? Beat a new drum.

I actually thought about this before game 7 against Dallas - If I had to choose between losing to Dallas or losing to Edmonton in round 2. It's been a long time as a Flame fan to be able to celebrate something as big as the Gaudreau game 7 OT goal. I would easily relive that moment and lose to the oil then just be disappointed in losing yet again in the first round. I know its ridiculous to be happy about just getting by the first round and trust me I really want to celebrate something bigger but it's as Flames fans it can be a rare occasion to be able to do that.

Gaudreau not being able to score on his chances has been devastating to the offence.
Markstrom turning into hot garbage has been devastating to the team.
I still think the Flames can win this and are the better team. But Johnny and Markstrom need to elevate their game bigly

Incredible how so many people are blaming Marky. His numbers aren't good but the goals he has let in are quality goals aside from game 1 where he sucked but we still won.
Recap of the losing games and his goals:
Game 2
Keith's goal - Saveable but not terrible
McDavid goal - Breakaway deke, little chance
Bouchard goal - perfect blast inside post, no chance
Hyman breakaway - 50/50 chance
Game 3
Hyman goal - perfect shot inside post but maybe lost his angle a bit so 50/50
Kane three goals - all alone going one way and getting deked, poor defensive play, little chance to save
Game 4
Nuge goal - gift wrapped bad play, all on Marky
Hyman goal - PP rebound, no chance
Kane goal - deflected of defender stick, low chance to save
Nuge goal - rebound, bad coverage by Shilly, no chance
Don't forget all the other stops he's made like Drai one timers, Hyman breakaway, Kassian breakaway etc.
Flames are giving up way too many uncontested opportunities. This is a team issue. If Flames had those exact opportunities, I'm willing to bet we would also be scoring.
Tkachuk the future leader and 10 million dollar man has been neutered by Kane
Lucic has been dead weight, doesn't get into anyone's grill
Jarnkrok has pretty much been Jarnchoke
Dube isn't using his speed up create more chances
Hanifin been turned into Noah Pylon
Stone is back to blasting his rockets wide and high
Sutter needs to feel the pulse of the players and stop rolling these brutal guys when it's crunch time.

Yeah the Flames were all over the Oilers after that goal...Oilers got one chance and the Flames player at the net made a terrible mistake.

I had a great time this season, it was fun. Went to a bunch of games, saw a lot of wins, went to my second ever playoff game and first one I remember, watched a lot of meaningful hockey with my dad...it was great. The payoff of being a fan is always worth the "heartbreak" that's not really true heartbreak, it should be an easy balance to strike for any well-adjusted adult. Even if the Flames win the cup it changes my life 0%, the value-add is having a hometown team that adds to the entertainment of my life. That's like 95% of my mindset around being a fan, but yeah the other 5 would be evaluating realistically how the franchise performs, what i think they should do, how i'd handle the roster, etc. So in that vein, I guess I am disappointed by their playoff performance for yet another year because, well, how could you not. By any objective measure its not good. And the fact that that this is unfortunately tied for the best season in 18 years doesnt make it any less disappointing. If anything i think the people that weirdly insist on "positivity" in the face of well, reality, are the ones who maybe take things a little too seriously and personally.

Crushing defeat. Just crushing.
I stick by my post that the Game 2 SHG is the one that killed us. Score on that PP and we probably have a 2-2 series coming home for Game 5. PP failure has been a major story line for the Flames.
Watched tonight from a sports bar in downtown Toronto. More Flames fans than Oilers fans for sure. Even the CN Tower was lit red and yellow tonight. Felt like everything was in the Flames favour, til they found a way to lose.

Flames are actually the underdogs now, everyone thinks it's over. A game 5 win could put some pressure on the Oilers. They have beat them 3 straight once this year already.
