Hard to really tell from the video. Looks possible, but also possibly not. Certainly nothing brutal in it. At worst it looks on par with the type of slashes and hacks that Johnny would get all the time on his hands/wrists.

I will know within 5 mins of the start if they are going to have a chance of wining. If they come out skating hard and forechecking hard we are in with a chance. If they come out all soft and getting beaten to loose pucks we have had it. Its been the same almost all of the season. They have to put pressure on the oilers in their end and hit when they can, they need to hit the wonder kids hard when they can. I am sick of seeing them dipsy doodling around defence men, take them to the outside and put them into the boards hard. In the end their top line has been head and shoulders better than ours if we lose this series then we need to re-evalue both JG and MT. Don't get me wrong they are good players but I will not be able to continue watching the flames if 22/24 mil is spent on them at the expense to the rest of the team. They are not going to get better and if we get knocked out by the oilers what does that say for the next 7/8 years. This was the year to get it done, I await with baited breath.

Well this has to be the peak of the Oiler hype machine. Been an insufferable couple of days with the McDavid GOAT talk.

Can we please go out and play a Flames style game to make this a series and change the narrative in the media/our rival fans?

So you are going to re-evaluate the top line because McDavid outplayed them? Seems kinda silly, should the Flames lose they need to add more depth and better D. It would basically be impossible to upgrade the top line.

Oilers will be worse next season they have Kane at league min contract right now and he is the leading goal scorer

Win, lose, whatever.........just play your friggin game again.

No more reactive instead of proactive. No more turning away from hits. No more timid forecheck. No more being scared every time McDavid is on the ice.

Play like you have all season. Skate, forecheck, hit, scoring chances. This is the friggin Oilers. They have Smith in net, and players like Ceci, Keith, Nurse and a bunch of other garbage on the blueline. Like.............c'mon. Start taking it to them.

This is a big game for Gaudreau.

He has to be the best player on the ice tonight.

Flames won't be able to play their game if they just dump it into the trapezoid for Smith to corral every time, and the Oiler's propensity to cherry-pick really suits him as he can just whip it out and not worry about the icing or making a perfect pass to a dman all the time. Other dump & chase heavy teams had to gameplan around it while he was with us so, it is vice versa now. Adapt or be eliminated.

We saw some pressure mounted off dumps into the corner, beyond Smith's reach, where the forecheckers were able to contest the puck along the boards against Edmonton's D. But if you just let Smitty get it every time you may as well just play tight man coverage 5 on 5 while he figures out what to do with the puck.

You forgot to add get called for a week penalty to your list.

Blows my mind they don't do a high puck flip into the opposite corner - either Smith still attempts to fetch it putting himself out of of his net, or we pounce on their D on the forecheck and cause a turnover.

No… just no. I’m guessing that you weren’t around for the BoAs in the 80s/ early 90s

This. Time to get McDavid frustrated at how little he gets to ouch the puck. Make the Oilers work in their own zone, they're really not that good.

Vezina candidate Markstrom has been outplayed in 7 (arguably 8) of the 10 games so far. And that isn't to point to a finger or say he has played poorly as a whole - he hasn't, which is the point. It has been an insane run that will reverse at some point and what better night than tonight?

97/29 fire blanks in the first of three straight Flames wins.

Correct, when you play the Oilers you cede the "best player on the ice" argument. Which is not required to win .

Meh, if anything Lindholm needs to man up or just have Backs' line match Mc###### cause clearly Elias is out of his league so far
