Oilers had the edge but I think the shots flatter them a bit. Calgary had some dangerous looks that period. They missed the net on quite a few of them.

Edmonton had a good period, but their shot clock is inflated. They counted that last #### which is never counted.

Flames have some nerves but I think they will come out strong in the second period here.

Got better as the period went along. Weathered some early pressure and got out of it.

Markstrom had a scary moment but he's looking great so far. Jarnkrok is fired up. Would like to see the rest of the team feed off that energy.

If Johnny received the offsetting penalty for embellishment last game, Draisaitl should have received the same on that one.

Flames should know better than to leave their sticks around the legs on the Oilers players. They’re putting themselves in the position of getting a weak penalty called.

Save for a few plays, he has been garbage all playoffs. Frustrating, to watch. I don’t think he is a number 1 dman. But at least play like a 2/3, heck, I’d take a 4.

Mangiapane and Tkachuk both need to take the puck to the net, not shoot from the distance they were shooting from. Go to the net with a purpose, don’t stop short.

I thought the Flames failed to establish control at any point that period, but it’s 0-0. Just like this series, the Flames have yet to find their game and it’s still tied.

This is there for you Flames. You just have to start executing.

(I miss Tanev).

We lucky we didn’t go down. I believe we come out way better in the second. That’s on Edmonton for not capitalizing. End score: 4-2 flames

At a bar in downtown Sydney to watch the game.

Ran into Frankie MacDonald.

Me: So Frankie, who's winning the Flames/Oilers game tonight?

Frankie: Don't know

Me: Who do you want to win?

Frankie: The Flames

... do it for Frankie!

Well, on the plus side. Markys settling down and looking much better. On the meh side. Flames aren't anywhere close to playing to their potential right now. I dont get it. The Oilers are a bad team. Smith is a junk goalie an they're being made to look competent.

After a shaky start, Markstrom dialed in.

Smith will be Smith, Flames got this.

This is very true. With the exception of that bug gaff at the end I thought Hanifin was our best dman against McDavid.

$100 donation to CP if someone would lay a hard hit on Drycycle.

Is that too much to ask for?

Not win, not a goal, a simple hit.
