Tanev getting hurt is bad. Kylington needs a steady defensive partner to balance his chaos.

And what a brutal turn of events. Tyler scores on the PP and it’s back to 3-1. You think we lock it down in the manner described above. But nope. Chucky gets involved in extra curricular activity with Nurse and that’s it, game, set and match.

Stay disciplined and it’s 2 games for us and likely a short series.

And that folks could be the irreversible turning point.

Sorry but I’m really disappointed in Sutter and the entire group right now.
Did people actually think this was going to be a short series? That Calgary would just plow through the Oilers with no pushback? Heck, we saw in game 1 they’re capable of scoring 6 if we’re not on our game.

I 100% agree the sequence after the Toffoli goal gave them momentum, Nurse is literally just turning after getting a new stick, Tkachuk has to leave that stuff alone. But we had chances to win that game, just like we will in game 3. It will be a long series and both teams have shown the ability to respond. It’s our turn to push back after a bad second period and sloppy third period.

Not good enough.
I don’t know about on the hook for it. Ultimately the players have to execute. But it is a bit concerning that for two series in a row we’ve allowed the other team to dictate the gameplay way more often than we’d like.

Flames have to remember that they're the superior team. I don't know what it is but they continue to not put this team away when they have the lead. Not good enough. I'm still not worried about this series though as I feel we'll still win this in 6.

Yeah said it in the game story.

Without Tanev Kylington is a 6/7 and not a 4/5 effectively meaning you have a top pairing without a lot of playoff experience, and then two third pairings.

That's not good.

I thought Kylington and Zadorov had puzzling games last night.

Anderson and Hanifin had McDavid for 7 even strength minutes and got crushed. Next closest pairing had them for 3 minutes.

The Flames had the second most dominant first round of any of the teams that advanced behind Colorado.

That's dictating the play more than 14 other teams in the first round.

Yup, basically have to win when McDavid isn't on the ice and hope Markstrom makes the big saves when he is.

Good news is we will have plenty of fans in the stands in EDM. Would love to see a dagger in game 3 such as a late third period or OT goal. Steal the momentum back.

I kinda did to be honest. I felt we would look much better in Game 2 than we did in the first. Maybe my expectations are too high?

Flames definitely through 2 games ha e played down to the Oilers level.

I dont think you can just drop a blanket on every team and play the same way against all of them. But by gawd it should be super easy to play the same way they did against Dallas against Edmonton. McJesus or not.

They completely gotten away from it.

The Oilers aren't even in the same realm of a quality team and yet they're still breathing.

This series right now isn't about the Oilers winning the series as it is more about the Flames absolutely pooping it away right now.

Series is 1-1. Should be 2-0 and these Oil Clowns have no business being in it.

People are going to swing, there's no point in trying to prevent it.

But this playoff series was never going to be a sweep. Teams make adjustments. Each game is unique.

The Flames could have won the game last night, they didn't. But they've shown a bounce back ability all season and in the Dallas series. They're not going away.

This is going 6 or 7

I'm with you. I think we are the much better team but aren't playing like it. Our expectations should be high as we are a top team. Oilers are very one dimensional and have been lucky. We'll still take this series.

Guys like coleman and tkachuk have to stop running around like idiots. Penalties killed the flames last night on a whole bunch of levels.

Flames need to start playing the diciplined game that got them here in the first place. 5 on 5 we’re the better team. 4 on 4 or 4 on 5 we are not the better team.

Hopefully they can figure that out. Or they will be golfing soon.
I think getting on the road will change this, take out the party atmosphere and jumpstart the get to work mode.

Also Mangiapane was the main culprit last night of getting way too combative. He took a lot of retaliation penalties. 3 iirc.

Coleman has a bur up his butt this series but I don't think he's out of hand. Just being a prick. Which the Flames need.

Two good plays from EDM. They weren't O-Zone turnovers, bad line changes, or horrendous defensive gaffes or anything.

Ita frustrating that the Flames just haven't been very good.

McDavid is dictating the games. Gaudreau, Lindholm, Tkachuk and Markstrom haven't really done a whole heck of a lot.

Markstrom is supposed to be the ace in the hole when the structure breaks down. He has not lived up to his own reputation.

In the regular season Um the first one to trot out "The reffing wasn't very good ,but the Flames didn't deserve to win" In the playoffs, who cares who deserves what, every play counts that can swing the game. The Flames were down by 1 and Toffoli scored on the PP to tie it up. Except the ref somehow lost sight of a puck that he shouldn't have. Like it wasn't even close.

The refs were doing the thing of taking taking the original penalty and then both retaliators. I guess I understand it, but if they actually watched the scrum they'd see who deserved what. They're so scared of influencing the game they inadvertently influence the hell out of it.

You can't tell me that the Oilers deserved 4 more PPs going into the 3rd.

Yeah the Flames weren't very good, but the refs influenced the outcome.

Having slept on it some...it's still just so very frustrating watching the Flames play the Oilers, (RS or playoffs).

The Flames are the better team and shouldn't have too many issues, but the Oilers just seem to live in the Flames heads and make them play down to the Oilers.

How's that old saying go? Don't argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience?

Flames need to stop playing the Oilers game.

Everyone's got an opinion...so here's mine

I think people should give Edmonton some credit: since the All-Star break or mid way point (I forget which) Calgary has the most points in the NHL.

Number 2 was Edmonton.

So, sure, they are a one line team and all that, but they have been playing undeniably better for half the season...

Hopefully, the players are taking them seriously, because more games like game 2, and Calgary could easily be in some trouble.

Hoping that an ugly road game in enemy territory allows them to refocus on playing their game and not the Oilers'

Sets up a really interesting game 3. Who knows what that could look like, it’s anyones guess at this point.

Markstrom was better so that’s good, but so was Smith.

To me it all comes down to McDavid. Keep him to 2 points or less, and you have to outscore the rest of their lines.

And stop with the penalties. Don’t need to prove anything in scrums etc.

Flames play their game we win, we play the Oilers game, we lose.

Go Flames Go!!
