That's probably a fair assumption.
I'd rather sit a person than force them to play through pain and risk further injury. The Oilers are doing this with Draisatl and it's quite on brand with how they have treated players before.

Yeah, I think it's being forgotten how different BoA games look up in stinktown. For one, the myriad of Oilers PPs they seem to get in the third period of close games. But I like where his head's at

This is completely ridiculous. The Oilers are a mess, but they are far too potent offensively to not have a night where they burry a few again and one of their goalies does enough to get the win.
Let's not be too "Leafy" by making statements like this before the Flames have even held on to home ice advantage next game.

Smith will have a couple games where he keeps the goals against to 2 or 3, giving the Oilers offense a decent chance to outscore that amount.
Never make grand proclamations after 1 game.. tends to backfire.

If Ritchie hadn’t played well - and scored on the McDavid line - I’d say go 11-7 with Mackey in. Games only get harder from here and he should probably get his feet wet. Looks likely he’ll be needed.
