Monitor Stands

Wife and I are looking to upgrade home offices. We both currently have 2 monitors each and want to put them on stands for more room.

I typically go to monoprice, anyone have a better suggestion? It'll be pretty straightforward, 2 24'ish" panels each.

Only concerns I've thought of is wobble when typing, something fairly rigid would be preferred. And the bolts that secure the monitors to the stands, do those come with the stands or would they have been in the box that the monitors came in? If they come with the monitor, ours are sadly long gone but don't recall seeing any in the box.

If we need replacement bolts, are they standardized and where would one find them?

Monitors basically never come with bolts, they should come with the stand though. They'll most likely be M4 x10mm which you can find at any hardware store.

Consider monitor arms rather than stands to give your desk more real estate room. Plenty of cheap options nowadays on Amazon.ca or Prime Cables.

Ya sorry, that's what I meant. The type that clamps to your desk so you can 86 the stand the monitors came with.

I assume your monitors are VESA compatible. The arms will come with all the mounting hardware required. I have a mechanical keyboard and think I type pretty hard but I do not see any wobble with the arms that I have. Some arms will let you rotate the monitor 90 degrees, some will let you tilt, angle, etc.

I have the single monitor version of that and it was ok for a while but it didn't feel sturdy enough for the 32" I had a the time. Shouldn't be a problem if you have 24"

Ergotron makes very good mounts that come with a good warranty but are expensive. They are also the OEM for the Amazon basics arms, so you can get the same quality just not with the warranty.

Echoing this, my Ergotron arm is really excellent - cost more, but worth it. Very stable.

For more stability you can usually get most monitor arms in a through bolt design that goes through the table. We typically specify those arms on set ups where they are using either larger format monitors or older heavier monitors.

I type on my standing desk and there is monitor movement. I’ve been considering wall mounting however at that point it makes my standing desk permanent.

I will say though that this is nothing as working from home for me beats going to an office or getting onto a plane.

Used them at work for years with no issues, the only caveat is that they extend behind the desk quite a bit so if your desk is right against a wall they probably won't work

Going to jump into this thread instead of starting a new one - any recommendations for a local office furniture supply store where I can go and check out/try a bunch of different desks and configurations?

Looking to massively upgrade the home office with all the bells and whistles and would rather see it in person and try it out before buying online.
