The first 30 minutes were excellent, then Markstrom forgot how to play goal. 3 brutal goals on him (mostly the Hyman ones), but this should have been 8-3.
I'm glad they pulled it out in the 3rd, but Sutter won't be happy at all. I expect them to be much better in Game 2. Good signs that the top line were good, and the secondary scoring was there (Coleman, Mangi, Ritchie, Andersson).
The most pathetic start to a game I’ve ever seen, let alone a 2nd round playoff game. Those first 30 minutes were straight up embarrassing and completely inexcusable. If Markstrom hadn’t gone absolute sieve mode, this game is a blowout of historic proportions. Did we even throw one single hit all ####ing game? I don’t even know what else to say. Just a pathetic effort. Absolutely pathetic
The first 30 minutes was men against boys. It was actually kind of pathetic. Markstrom gave up some easy ones, which rattled the Flames a bit and gave the Oilers some life. But if he had had even an average night, this would have been a snore and ended 5 or 6 to 2.
For the Flames, the message is clear: Don't change a thing. McDavid is going to be hard to defend no matter what. But as another poster said, you don't have to defend if you have the puck. Play the possession game they play so well and this will be a fun series for Flames fans.

It's always nice when you have the chance to take a vacation right in the middle of the game and still win.

Markstrom had a rare off night, Oilers got some bounces, and we still almost doubled them up in shots and beat them by 2 plus an empty netter.
We took too many penalties, had a few too many defosnice gaffes, and we let them back into a game they had no business being in. But we were the better team by virtually every metric and it wasn't close.
Wow, just wow. That was crazy. The joke has been on the 9-6 score. Did the Stampeders beat the Elks 9-6 in a field goal defensive game? Seeing the Tkachuk family was terrific. The Flames PK was perfect at 4/4.
