Stockton doesn't play til Monday I don't think if that helps people feel less panicked

(obviously in the end you are always going to recall players AHL team be damned) but he's not missing anything there and MIGHT just be that added insurance in case things go last minute sideways

Valimaki is going to do everything he can to stay up, even if it means doing things exactly Sutter's way. No sullenly pedalling the exercise bike.

Probably best for him to finish out the AHL playoffs with the heat, then come up, get as much ice time as he can. Sutter isn't going to play him unless things are going wrong up here.

This is exactly why Treliving overloaded on the defense this year and we kept Valimaki around in the minors while also have Stone sitting in the press box all season. We knew we would need the depth and it's finally happened in the playoffs. In the pre-season people were wondering why we needed to have Gudbranson and Zadorov while we apparently had depth in the minors in addition to still having Stone.

I'm old enough to remember at the TDL when posters moaned about Treliving maybe trading for depth D again.

Having callups ready and available is nice and even better is when you don't have to pull a Vegas or Tampa and have the whole league looking at you going WTF is going on there ....way OVER the cap but you'll find a way right?
Glad Calgary doesn't have to look like the a hole here.

I'm okay with Mackey playing. He plays a fairly mature, responsible game.

Valimaki is still a bit of an adventure, but probably no more so than Kyllington.

Exactly! I still firmly believe that if the Flames had signed Phaneuf to his entry contract in 2023/2024 after draft and had him available for '04 playoffs we would have won (even though we actually did) IT WAS IN!!!!

Just ran out of D that year

I wouldn't even be mad lol, Have Kylington play wing on some dzone shifts with whoever is hot in the faceoff DoT and Gaudreau for a quick breakout

Against the Oilers, Valimaki should be OK. Against Stars, Blues, or Avs? Just hope the Flames don't get swept.

Valimaki has not been overly impressive in the AHL. Certainly a far cry from Kylington, who had some frightening moments in the first round but also had some of the best underlying results of any Flames player.
