I don't think you know what this means. An epic elimination goal in overtime of Game Seven can not be "anti-climactic."

I think this sums up the entire series.
- They tried to play the underdog card.
- They went with the narrative that they could keep up with anyone.
- Every game we outplayed them MOST of the time.
- They looked tired every game, sat on 1 goal leads and just played boring trap 1-0 hockey.
- Oettenger stood on his head even though he allowed a suspicious amount of rebounds all series long
- No puck luck, no bounce luck all series
Flames just physically and mentally wore them down. Deserved to win and I'm glad we did.

I had this funny feeling at the end that I described to my roommate. It's weird how the most exciting part of an OT playoff game happens at the end. Not many other events are like that. Most events (films, concerts, etc..) have the climax just before the finale. The big mystery reveal, or the shredding solo in the favourite song usually come with a little bit of cool down afterwards.
After a Game 7 OT goal. That's it, the game is over and you just got pumped up. If you can head out for the party it's great, if you're stuck at home or elsewhere, its like....okay well...awesome.

Looking back, very thankful that Zadorov didn’t get suspended for game 7. I really don’t think we win that game without his heavy 28:42 in ice time

Gee. You think? Missing Tanev for the entire game as well as Kylington for a big chunk of it was also not ideal.

I assume the hearing was a response / courtesy to Bowness , due to his animated reaction.
They looked at it, and on a scale from zero to Nurse head butt, it landed closer to zero
The right call, and I agree, very good for the Flames. That G-Z pairing had such a good series

I think Johnny’s shot ended up being very tricky for him to anticipate because it stood on end, changing the trajectory of the angle in which Johnny could go bar down.
Now I’m no goalie expert, but if that puck stays flat, it’s probably way harder for Johnny to roof that from his angle, so I could see why Oettinger slumped a bit, assuming he’d try to sneak it through his arm or something.
Even so, there was barely any space for Johnny to put that, he had to go bar down to score. That’s what it was going to take to beat GOATtinger, the perfect shot which Johnny delivered in stunning fashion.

Nice! Doesn't surprise me, Flames fans know hockey and know good players when they see them.

Yeah, saw that too. Sutter truly is wired differently. You see other great coaches like Cooper celebrate and react when they won their Game 7. You did see Sutter's reaction to Johnny on the ice after the win when he I assume gave Johnny some nice feedback, smiling. I don't think Sutter ever forgets the ultimate goal or allows him to just enjoy some moments. Focused to the max!

In the highlight package you see Sutter almost head for the tunnel before realizing and pointing to the handshake

Yeah, there was that bad pass moments before the GWG where he gifted the puck to a Dallas player during a change which lead to a 3 on 2. I believe Seguin missed on a deflection there but it could have finished the series. That was probably one of Zadorov's last shifts of the night.
Other than that though I thought his play was great overall, but I'd be anxious if he's played that amount every game.
Fingers crossed that Tanev comes back sooner than later.

It was, literally, "climactic," being, you know, the freakin' climax and all.

Really? I was in the exact opposite camp. I felt like we as a fanbase could put up with his odd decision making and pizzas up the middle in order to be rewarded with his playoff exploits.
Big heavy defensemen are a commodity in the playoffs and I had a feeling Z would play well. It’s probably the same reason why teams were lining up to give a 1st for Ben Chariot. You want the tough, greasy defensemen who can block shots, box out and dish/absorb hits in the playoffs.

Even despite the two cups, I'd imagine his style gets stagnant and players probably tune him out.
Then, he gets labeled as someone the players don't like.
Players start not caring, get lazy, etc.....coach gets turfed.

He seems like a coach in the truest sense of the word, not just drawing up plans but really developing his players in all facets of what it takes for them to succeed.

Sutter has always had a reputation to be a hard ass. However I wonder if that is misunderstood. Grumpy when the team is losing? Which true competitive person wouldn't be? However, if you listen to what he has to say you really do get the sense that he isn't the hard nosed taskmaster that he was previously made out to be. Maybe he was but he is smart and strives for success and improvement, not just in his team and his players but himself too.
