WCSF: Flames vs. Oilers-Battle of Alberta

Feeling pretty confident with in the Flames being able to beat the oilers. The only wrinkle is injuries. If Tanev is out long term that’s a huge concern. Wouldn’t surprise me if Chucky and Zad dog were banged up too. I think Flames in 6. McDoofus will get his goals, the refs will see to that so that’ll likely be 1 or 2 games on its own.

I understand why it's Simpson and he is neutral in the sense that he's the national A team. Millen, who basically just joined the Flames group at season end with Campbell and Hrudey deployed elsewhere is possibly more neutral in the sense of not a former Flame/Calgarian

Yeah, that's crazy for eastern time zone fans.

8:30 on Friday should make for quite a drunk crowd. Mix in a bunch of drunk oiler fans, and it could pretty ugly.

Based on how the teams played, the Flames should be the clear winner.

McAvi is the wildcard. He willed the Oilers into the second round. He has to be contained and crushed. This is going to be a very tough task. He also plays a ton so there's going to have to be two lines and two pairs of dmen that need to be aware of him at all times.

Rai needs to be hit constantly. He apparently has a high ankle sprain; the Flames need to bump him out of the series.

McPowerPlay will get off in at least one game and get his points, but the Flames have the edge everywhere else down the line. Flames in 5 in a standard reffed series. Flames in 6 if the Refs decide to get involved in the outcome.

All the skin is ripped on the backs of Tkachuk's hands, probably from his most recent fight. It should improve with time, but it was probably hard to properly grip his stick for a while. Tanev was a game-time decision, so he should probably be back.
