Yeah I mean I was surprised they had a hearing, but the talking heads convinced the DOPS to have a look. As they stated, he didn’t extend, he hit him basically straight plumb with his elbow in… it was a clean hit… unfortunately head contact was unavoidable.

They got this one right though Dallas fans will disagree of course

I’m assuming Sportsnet made a mistake here in their press release?

I would suspect the Stars complained and insisted the DOPS look at it. Pretty rare they say there is a hearing and the player gets nothing.

SN just assumed wrong because they see everything through oiler goggles.

For sure!

DOPS statement…

“Department of Player Safety has determined that there will be no supplemental discipline”

Nice to see he's still doing in retirement what he excelled at while he was working: Making bad calls about the game of hockey.

Good. Now let's be up 4-1 with 10 minutes left so big Z can shut Benn up.

Yeah that doesn’t happen often

They usually decided already before calling for a hearing.

Zadorov must have a good lawyer

Roger's fired so many people, they don't have anyone working weekends anymore.

Or they actually looked at the video replay and correctly interpreted the rules rather than listening to the pearl clutchers

Holy #### - DOPS read my post:

As far as intent goes, it was a clean check.

The problem is that the initial point of contact was the head. I wouldn't say the primary point of contact though, as Zadorov makes contact throughout the torso, and drives into Glendening's chest.

Finally, Glendening was bent down a fair bit. Not only is Zadorov 6 inches taller, but, because he was bent over, Glendening's entire head was at the level of Zadorov's shoulder. Impossible NOT to make head contact. If Glendening is upright, his head might not have been hit. It is is 6'4", his head would not have been hit.

I don't see how you suspend a guy for that.

But he will be suspended for 1 game.

Yes they, kept going on about the dirty "head hit", and had bowness spouting on and on about it, think it was Heiskanen that said it was not his job to decide about it and wouldn't say more to the reporters that were fishing for some vitriol to the Flames.

Benn will never fight Zadorov just like he would never fight Lucic. Something about being smart? idk
