I've never seen a team get away with so many holds, picks, interference, dirty hits , late hits , tackling Toffol, diving onto Tanevs back, hits to Johhnys head , Bennslewfoots and more lost brain cells for me as a fan having to watch this garbage and continue wondering why?
But....we are the Flames I guess and this is just how things go . I should be used to it by now but nope....just don't understand the inconsistencies where the calls are concerned .
We need to control the one thing we can and that's the scoreboard.
To beat thr stars we can't stoop to the level they are willing to go to which is lower Than a snakes belly.
I guess we're supposed to be a whole team of lady Byng finalists who skate around with great big happy shiny people faces on and just let opposing teams , the refs and nhl treat us like the doormats we are .
Can't forget ol Gary B is mad we don't have a new building yet and he's just unhappy it seems with us.
Ahh.....so much fun this series has been to watch.
Glad I got that off my chest ....now I can go back to be a WOS'er......shame shame shame.
there is no point of an appeal in the NHL...by the time they hear it the suspension is over
Didn't Wideman serve 19 games when his suspension was reduced from 20 to 10?
The NHL rejected his appeal and then the PA went to independent arbitration for an appeal but that took so long it was mostly a waste of time (except for the loss of pay).
So if a player gets one or two games in the playoffs and they appeal, it's a waste of time. The NHL will either immediately reject it or delay anyway.

Yep and Bettman was the smarmiest prick about it too. Man, I have never wanted to throw hands at someone more.
It took frame by frame analysis to see that he hit his head a micro split second before his chest. Not a targeted action, not did he adjust to go for the head or was it a reaction or retaliation. Nor defenseless position or along the boards.
At most the refs missed a check to the head call but in real time it doesn't look like that. Does every check to the head call, again, this could be called that only if they watched frame by frame by frame of a replay, get a hearing?
Zadorov is also 4 to 5 inches taller then the guy.
That's why they have a penalty, 2 minutes for hitting to the head.
Each of those minor penalties, and it wasn't called in this case, do not result in a hearing.
Trouba didn't receive a suspension, Johnny took a similar hit earlier in the series and it was a 2 minute minor. Nurse uses his helmet as a missile and gets a single game. Then this should be the max fine and nothing more.
The NHL is completely random on this stuff and its part of what makes the NHL a complete joke from a rules enforcement point of view.

Will the Flames be without two of their top six defencemen?
Bowness and Sutter would naturally see the Zadorov hit differently, but Sutter also mentioned the fact the Stars have been getting away with dangerous slew foot plays in the series.
I'm doing my very best to not view that hit as a Flames fan and I just don't see how you can suspend Zad for the hit.
For sure any head contact is less than ideal but when the hitter is 6'5 and the recipient is 5'11 what's a guy to do? Doesn't look targeted. New rules incoming where you can't hit a guy if he's a certain amount lighter and shorter?
I thought this was supposed to be playoff hockey.
Agreed. Also love HWM too!
