One instance that I will/can share was when I was 16, a hairdresser grinded her crotch on my hand that rested on the armrest of the barber chair, shielded by the hairdressing cape, while she cut my hair. Whether this happens to anyone, like the young women in the OP, it is inappropriate and unacceptable. I do applaud the messaging to speak up, say something, do anything and be a part of the solution.

I’m sorry that happened to you.

I think it’s hard for guys to admit if it bothered them, and not if it happened. Allot of other guys with praise them and laugh about it. So we grow up thinking it’s something to be proud of.

Or maybe it doesn’t bother us the same?

I know it can be flattering, in some cases, maybe.

If you even look at films and TV shows all the way up until fairly recently, how guys went about hitting on women is pretty cringey. It was a common scenario for men to pick up women by being sexually aggressive in public. Watch some old Threes Company or Cheers episodes, and some of what people used to laugh at then wouldn't be acceptable today.

Watch the first few seasons of Big Bang Theory and how Howard talks to Penny. This isn't as far in the rear view mirror as we'd like to think.

So what started out as a Flames related story based on reposted heresay from Reddit, is now just a general #metoo related thread. Why is this in FOI again?

I don't doubt the validity of the discussion but seems pretty gd offtopic

I hear you.

But at the same time I'm glad this isn't buried in some subsection that only 10% of the site looks at.

As hockey fans, if even 5 of us start watching for it at the Dome it could make an improvement.

Plus it's clearly defined as a topic and you clicked on it.

If it's good enough for Trudeau, it's good enough for me.

Fully agree! This needs to be front and centre. It's simply unacceptable that harassment like this is taking place at the Dome and the more people that are aware of it and can watch out for it, the better.

Weird that the co-op ice cream thread didn’t get the same reaction from the same people.

What do you mean? What’s good enough? Being an assaulter?

I'm not saying that all men are rapists, but it doesn't hurt to be aware of the experience of others and what they might consider threatening. It should be an ongoing process for everyone.

Obviously older men rubbing their crutches on young women is a different scenario, and that falls more in the criminal realm.

I hope any CP members going to game 7 will keep this thread in mind and help out if you see something inappropriate going on.

Interesting to see some guys speaking up about their own experiences here. As a guy I've been harassed on a couple of occasions. I was pretty young then but once in crowded place and once when too drunk to even form a coherent word I was groped inappropriately by (I'm 99% sure) women. At the time I didn't think much of it, maybe even convinced myself it was cool initially because that's the kind of thing your friends would fist bump you for. But in retrospect I realized just how not cool that was. One was particularly bothersome reflecting on it because I think it was someone I knew, but who I'd just treated as a platonic friend for as long as we knew each other. They essentially took advantage of me being in a vulnerable position thinking I was too far gone to notice, but I did & just didn't have the wherewithal to protect myself or say no.

Can't imagine those sort of things being a semi-regular occurrence, which it appears to be for a number of women.
