Tkachuk, Toffoli and Hanifin are having a terrible playoffs
I am surprised with Tkachuk
Toffoli looks like he is trying but his skills are lacking
Hanifin looks disinterested to me

End of game antics have nothing to do with a hard hit in the second period as far as DOPS.
Again, at most Zadorov could've gotten is a check to the head penalty, and only when you slowed down the replay frame by frame could you have called even that. Zero intent to hit the head. Zadorov is 5 inches taller than Glendenning too.
How that is hearing worthy is beyond a joke.

Yeah. And the "I'm coming for you!" taunts he gave to the Dallas bench shortly after that. Not looking good IMO.

Maybe if Sean from 2015 was available I would agree but not the player over the past 3 years.

Garbage.
He doesn't target the head. He hits the head and chest same time, and even if it's the head, it's by a millisecond over the rest of the body.
Refs didn't even call a penalty.
Is every check to the head penalty now a hearing? No hearing for the hit to head of Johnny earlier.
|
I’d be a bit surprised if this results in a suspension, but who knows with DOPS. Head is not the primary point of contact, and there is no “picking” motion for Zadorov — he leads with the shoulder and drives through the player, not just the head.
Glendenning also returned to the game.
If 2 games regular season = 1 game in the playoffs, then 1 game in the regular season should just be a fine in the playoffs. We’ll see.

Not a factor at all, its the hit nothing more.
Not surprised there is a hearing, i was hoping it would be a fine.
Flames could be without two dman for game #7.

I agreed he has been underperforming but he wins face off
The clown that replaces him went 0 for 12?
You can’t have possession when you do that

But, one game sudden death now opens up the possibility that some fluke, single slip, bad luck bounce off the glass, missed penalty or anything else that hasn't yet gone wrong for the Flames (or,not right) in the series, happening, inexpecibly finishes the season. This would be a travesty.
|
Whether you call it a choke or not doesn't matter. If they lose, again, in the first round after going up 3-2 that's giving away the series. They'll be thought of as a team that can't get it done when it's needed. And that will be true.
And, whether we want to think it or not, winning or losing will dictate what this team looks like next year.
Good news is this can all be remedied by a win on Sunday. Game 7 will be franchise defining.

Toffoli is top of the charts for chances, he's been better than expected in my books.
I think Tkachuk's hand is hurt.
The top pairing, not specifically Hanifin has struggled a bit for sure.

All the talk about goaltending being the difference is not correct imo. Both goalies have been tremendous. It’s like if Markstrom makes a big save, well, that’s what he’s here to do, but if Otteinger equals that then.. that’s the reason Flames are tied in the series. There’s been 12 goals each side, both teams playing sound defensive hockey under, above average goaltending. The stats concur, and the series is tied. If I could hand pick a goalie to bring to the Oilers, Markstrom would be in my top 3.

Toffoli seems like he is out of breath on almost every shift he plays. I wonder if he is behind the pack with his conditioning.

He is built like that for as long as I can remember

That's just silly.
A world exists where Markstrom has been great, but Oettinger out of this world.
Calgary has had 83 high danger chances to Dallas' 62

Exactly. Flames have essentially been "goalied" in this series. Dallas has been good at clogging things up, but the only reason we're in a game 7 situation is because Oettinger has stood on his head. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him come back down to earth next season (or dare I say it, round 2). Flames have fired 40+ shots on this kid in just about every game in this series. I don't see him being able to keep this up for much longer.
Flames have also outscored Dallas 9-6 over these last 3 games, so we know they can score on him. It's just a matter of getting into those dirty areas, getting traffic in front, and getting sticks on rebounds.

It’s definitely not correct. Ottinger is good but not unbeatable. The Flames had him a few times but not consistent enough.
They have one more shot. If they lose , they are not ready. They are still learning to win. And that even came from Sutter’s mouth
