This one is interesting as he was on fire prior to the playoffs but one has to wonder how he will fare after his extended break of not playing. I expect this may be due to the soft 4th goal that totally deflated the team and crowd in the last game.

Yes, it is interesting. They are hoping for some sort of spark in St. Louis.

What kind of chance do the Blues have vs the Avs? Another waste of 8 days (7 days?) or a long series?

Blues are a substantially better team than Nashville, and they have an actual goalie. I'm predicting a titanic clash with a strong possibility of going the full 7.

This was really a one year window for the wild and to go out in the 1st round has to hurt.

Suter and Parise buyout cap hits triple next year and they'll take up like 15% of their cap space until the cap goes up.

Wow! I thought they were already under those massive cap hits. That's going to be a massive blow for the next three years and it's even worse in year two and three:

1st year: 12.7 million dead cap
2nd year: 14.7 million dead cap
3rd year: 14.7 million dead cap

They are essentially a sub 70 million hard cap team

This is a solid 9.5 on the bizarro-meter but I love it:

Paying for the sins of the previous GM. For reasons only the Flyers ownership knows Chuck Fletcher has been allowed to ruin another NHL team.

As bad as the Flames have been over the last few decades, the Wild are one of the few that actually make me feel bad for their fans

I feel bad for the fanbase as they are one of the best US fanbases for hockey and have been afforded mostly mediocre, boring teams. Kaprizov is a good one but they need more star power as they look like a team that's maxed out the talent they have available to them. Goaltending is also a question mark for the franchise in the near future until Wallstedt is ready.

The owner bears a pretty big chunk of guilt on that one. No way those contracts happen without him, and he allowed some of the preferential treatment towards those two. Suter is still a good enough player, but off ice had become unbearable. Bill Guerin is pretty no nonsense and he decided he'd rather take the hit of Suter not playing for the team than have him on the team.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Fiala. Was paid 5.1 last year and had 33 goals and 85 points. He'll get at least a 50% raise from last year.

It will be interesting to see where all these raises come from, considering that more than half the league finished over the cap this year. I'm betting a lot of UFAs will be surprised to find themselves in the bargain bin when it all shakes out.
