Yep. In one game, two working lines should get it done. The other two just need to break even.

I guess it's on Sutter to determine if Tkachuk can focus on doing what he needs to do, or if Toffoli gives them a better option on the top line. Both guys are struggling but at least Toffoli is getting some chances it seems.

My thinking is that just because you start with Tkachuk on the top line doesn't mean he has to stay there (especially if you're already rotating 11 forwards).

Being on the road without last change might be a factor as well (i.e. moving Tkachuk "down" the lineup to spread out the offence and possibly get better matchups).

This one is the real test. You just know Dallas will come with everything they've got. Should be a dandy of a game, and I like our chances!

Go Flames Go!!

Excited for tonight and expecting a nail biter.

Was thinking about the Flames in elimination games and seems they have always been close. Trying to remember the last time there was a comfortable victory in a series clinching win.

2015 was a three goals win, but that two EN goals and a huge comeback.
2004 were all nail biters

I guess maybe the 2 goal win vs Chicago in 1989. No EN goals in that one and Flames never trailed.

On the other hand, when Flames get eliminated it hasn't always been pretty.

Hoping for a nice 3-0 victory tonight and can watch the other game 7's in peace on Saturday.

Yup, we'll get Dallas' best effort tonight.

Also, I think it's almost a certainty that the Stars will get more PPs than the Flames tonight - game management for the home team facing elimination - so they need to be prepared for that inevitability

Flames players driving the play ....

xGF%
Jarnkrok 61.9%
Dube 61.7% (huge turn around)
Kylington 61.5%
Tkachuk 61.0% (not playing as poorly as some think)
Gaudreau 60.9%

No players under 50% on series average.

Lucic, Hanifin, Lewis and Tanev the bottom four.

Team Snake Bit

Guys with the highest differential (GF-xGF) (Getting chances, not getting bounces ... or getting chances don't have skill to finish)

This isn't individual, but when on the ice.

Toffoli -3.5
Dube -3.4
Jarnkrok -3.3
Kylington -2.5
Andersson -2.2
Hanifin -2.0

Only two players getting better outcomes than they should

Ritchie +0.5
Gudbranson +0.3

Top line is about a goal and a half short of what they've generated

Exactly. Forget the players, as a fan, I need a day off emotionally.

especially if we're gearing up for a BOA.

With Toffoli particularly, this matches what we're seeing. In any other timeline, he has 3 goals so far in the series. I mean, if he was a 4th liner and didn't have a track record of being a sniper, then it's easy to sweep away. But this is a sniper, who is getting Grade A chance after Grade A chance, and he couldn't buy a goal with a bag of cash.

So excited for the game tonight! Got a good feeling that the boys will pull off the big win. Dallas is gonna come out hard for sure, but the Flames should be able to absorb it and carry the play. Go Flames Go!

Stars put up 3 in the first 6 minutes and 34 seconds of the game.

Flames answer back with 7 straight goals. The away team beats the home team in 6 games!

Yeast mode activated. Eat bread with 4.

Deja vu all over again but reversed!

Need to counter the Stars stifling man coverage by continuing the cycle and whipping it around the boards until they get tired and we can switch off fresh legs as theirs turns to lead. This will be especially important in the 2nd period with long change.

Speaking of which - I agree with what Friedman was saying about the series...

Every single game has been close enough that it could have easily gone to OT, and yet we haven't had any. Pretty surprising really. And I will predict that ends tonight -

Double OT thriller, ending with Benn lying on the ice, staring sadly at the puck sitting in his net.

I suppose that's one way to get Dallas folks excited about watching Stars playoff hockey....

This was actually from before game 4, but anyway...

If ... IF (IFFFFF) you advance this is found money.

Team advances without his production but his chance generation suggests he's about to go on a heater.

If one of those three score tonight, we WILL win the game.
