I really can't name one better. Listening to Cuthbert for most of a full game last night for first time in a long time, he seems....just not the same...anymore.
Millen this series is a perfect compliment. Ball doesn't have to carry him like he does Cassie, nor explain and correct him like he gently does to Hrudey.
Snet should have him and Millen as an alternate feed for as long as the Flames are in it..Sportsnet Flames Channel.maybe? Because I fear we are getting Singh at worst or Cuthbert if the Leafs choke, for R2.
|
Just got home from a long work stint in Silicon Valley and have had to watch the American feeds on TNT, TBS and ESPN (worst of the three). Believe me when I say that Singh is Prime Bob Cole compared to Hextall. I’ve listened to many better Saskatchewan Junior A calls on Hockey TV. She is completely unqualified for the job.

This was only the second goal he scored at home this season and the other one was at the end of November (also an ENG), so they may not have picked a goal song for him yet.
The clip cuts off while it's still playing TNT.
Also, what a great play by Looch to make sure it was Lewis's goal rather than taking the easy tap-in.

i was at hockey tonight and from the ice surface i could see tv's thru the glass windows of the sports bar. about half way thru the third period of my game i throw my arms into the air and start cheering my head off. apparently my team just thought i was having a "goalie moment", even though play was at the other end of the ice! ha! ha!
soooo happy right now!

Was getting really frustrated in the second intermission. Went 7+ periods of live playoff hockey without a goal. The roof almost blew off that place after the 2 goals in the third.
I felt really confident we were winning tonight but doubt started to creep in a little during that second intermission. So pumped we got the win. When it was 2-1 Dallas and 2-1 Edmonton that really sucked. 3-2 LA and 3-2 Calgary is much more enjoyable. Hopefully the Flames and Kings get it done in their next games.

Johnny and Mangiapane are warriors. Johnny takes a puck to the head, Mangiapane goes hard into the boards on the first shift of the game, and they both stay in the game and power through. There’s a reason they made it to the NHL at their size.

Kudos to the Saddledome music crew, late in the third when someone might be silly enough to start the wave, they fired up “We will rock you” which got the Dome stomping and clapping. Brilliant.

See, I don't approve of that kind of vulgarity in public.
The ‘O’ word should never be used by fans at or near the Saddledome.

Came from Edmonton for my first ever playoff game at the Dome, with my two oldest sons (15 &17). despite growing up in St.Albert they are huge Flames fans.
Checked out the Red Lot before heading into the Dome for warmup. Seemed like a “nervous energy” in the buildup to the game.
- The first two periods were rough. The stars lulled the entire building to sleep and got a fluke goal.
- Coleman, Lewis and Markstrom were warriors tonight
- Tofolli and Jarnkrok were effective
- Backlund and Mangiapaine were the heroes we’ve been waiting for
- Tanev was uncharacteristicly bad with the puck
- First line struggled to get in sync
- The third period was a clinic - the Let’s go Flames chant was the turning point!
It was a wonderful playoff experience. So many high fives, chants, and horn honking on our walk to the hotel. My oldest son and I both lost our voices as well. Such a great night.

When this team elevates, Dallas isn't on our level.
|
What's most interesting when compared to years past, they didn't fold like a cheap tent on a rainy night. This current edition of the Flames oozes confidence and has this belief that they can comeback when the deck is stacked against them.
I credit Sutter for the huge change in the this team. He was and is the remedy this team has lacked for a number of years. Jack Adams better have his name on it.

Game 6 2006 is nightmare fuel. Remember it more than the Game 7, which I was at.
1-1 12 minutes into the third, Huselius gets a clear breakaway and rings it off the cross bar...bounces out into the slot for a Ducks guy skating back to pick up with speed...Yelle's guy and was a but surprised at the Ducks player luck and inadvertently trips him.
Ducks score GWG on the resulting PP. Flames had game in control, killing 7 penalties to that point and looking good.
Huselius scores and we win that series. A)Becuase of the goal and B)Wouldn't have been the PP for the Ducks
Winning the series meant we would've knocked out the Oilers next round and their 2006 run never gets off the ground.
