He also said something like "we have to keep the puck out of our net", which you have to think is a direct shot at Smith.

WCQF: PAC(2) Edmonton Oilers vs PAC(3) Los Angeles Kings | LAK leads series 3-2
You saw his perspective of his defensive accountability as he coasted in to get a good look at the OT winner.
Reminded me of James Neale in the Colorado series except that this was even more negligent.

So torn. BoA round 2 would be amazing but its not worth the risk of either a) us not making it, or b) us making it and losing to them.
I'm okay if we face them, but won't be sad if they're booted by the Kings

I don't want a BOA because that would mean the Oilers would have won a playoff round and quite frankly that organization, it's players, media, and fans don't deserve even that amount of success.

Ron MacLean was exceptionally brutal tonight in the first intermission. Wants to preempt any discussion about how the Oilers suck so throws out a bunch of useless stats, blocked shots, faceoff percent and hits to show how great they are.
And DeBrusk was also brutal to listen to during the game. Every play should have been a penalty to the Kings because somebody touched an Oiler player, or he tries hard to defend that an Oiler shouldn't have received a penalty then backtracks once he sees the replay. It is making games unwatchable with these two idiots on the crew.

It could just as easily be a reference to team defensive play. The OT goal was more attributable to the forward falling down and the two Oiler dmen allowing Kempe to go around them. Boy, has Keith lost a step and a half.

Draisaitl had a comment after the game along the lines of "we haven't played up to our standards and we know we can be better.."
Can they be better though? Seems to me like that team has already hit their ceiling. They really only have one strength, and that's their PP. They know that their only chance is to dive their way to a win and attempt to outscore their problems. The Kings have finally figured this out over these last two games and look like the more confident team.
Trying to stay out of the box has been tough in these playoffs for every team, as the game management has been a joke and the refs seem to be calling everything. But if the Kings can at least minimize the amount of time they spend in the box and keep things 5 on 5 as much as possible, I think they'll wrap up the series in 6.

We all know the Oilers team D is the problem. The Oilers don’t, and that’s what is so hilarious and beautiful
Even if you want to give McD the benefit of the doubt for some reason, he didn’t say anything along the lines of ‘we need to help our goalie out’

Yeah I don't really see that ("we can be better because we know we are awesome") from the Oilers either...
What did we learn in the regular season?
- They often (usually?) get dominated 5-5
- They have basically a 2 player team, with a bunch of scrubs
- Those 2 players refuse to play any semblance of defence, are lazy on the backcheck, and are exceedingly "me first"
- Their D sucks, is slow, dumb and overpaid (and will be even worse next year)
- Their goaltending is questionable at best, and horrible at worse
- They rely heavily on their PP to save them from all of the above
is that any different than the playoffs so far?

Sometimes I wonder if MacLean is getting envelopes of cash from Katz to spread the propaganda.

How can anyone want to follow that guy? He has never even won anything but individual performance awards at the NHL level.
What a waste of talent.

It's more coordinated than that. I would assume they have formal meetings with Rogers media members to discuss the importance of 'positivity' in the broadcast.

100% this happens. They are there to sell a product same as the NHL.
No doubt in my mind Hextall was made an example of because she called out the ineptitude.

Nor was the massive charge that Yamamoto laid out in the corner (can't recall who he hit) right after the tying goal. If I recall correctly the one replay I saw he came flying in from the outer edge of the faceoff circle.
GIF anyone? I can't find anything...
