Dallas at Calgary

The Calgary Flames rode a dominating performance to Monday's Game 4 win that evened their Western Conference opening-round series with the Dallas Stars.

What remains to be seen is whether the Flames can keep the ball rolling when they play host to the Stars on Wednesday for Game 5 of the best-of-seven series that is tied 2-2.

"I think the momentum is we're going home to play in front of our fans," said forward Johnny Gaudreau, who tallied a penalty-shot goal in the third period of Calgary's 4-1 victory.

"Now it's a three-game series and we have two at home and one on the road. Obviously, a big win for us, but it's been a tight series and we've got to do the same thing. ... It's going to be a big game."

'We haven't won anything': Flames maintain business-like approach after squaring series with Stars

Asked on the TNT post-game show what head coach Darryl Sutter had said after the Flames squared their series 2-2, Johnny Gaudreau relayed that the message had been simple.

“He came in and said ‘Good game, best-of-three,’ “ Gaudreau said. “That’s it, then he walked out.”

Flames Playoff Update: Flames maintain business-like approach | 3 keys to success for both sides

If there was no panic when the Calgary Flames lost their last two games, well, they’re not about to bust out the champagne now.

The Flames evened their Round 1 playoff series against the Dallas Stars with an emphatic 4-1 win on Monday night. They gave the sort of performance fans had been waiting for, outshooting their opponents 54-35 and controlling the play for large stretches of the game.

How Stars plan to ignite struggling Jason Robertson in Game 5 vs. Flames

“It’s playoffs,” Robertson said following the Stars’ 4-1 loss in Game 4. “I knew it was going to be harder. I’m still trying to find spots and get shots. But I’ve got to do more for myself.”

Hoping the boys can come out fast and jump out to an early to keep the momentum going and break the Stars spirit.

Yeah....seems like getting up on the Stars is the key to beating them as they just aren't built to chase games.

Keep that Pavelski line in check, lots of pucks towards Oettinger, and stay out of the penalty box....and the good guys will claim victory.

Ottinger made lots of good saves but there were lots of luck too

Keep it up. Don’t do the Oilers thing please.

Had to work this hard to get back in it, need to work just as hard to take control of the series.

Dome better be rocking tonight.

I’m feeling pretty good about the Flames winning this and the next game, but they have to play the way they did last game and also the majority of the regular season.

We can do it.

Go Flames!

Need our depth to step up and contribute offensively. Backlund, Mang, Toffoli, Coleman, Dube and Jarnkrok have 3pts between them, two of which came from an empty net.

Had a chance to go to game 1 but had other life things that did not allow it.

I was offered tickets for tonight but after attending game 2, politely turned them down.

I'm not a superstitious guy by nature but I'm also not one to tempt fate.

Besides I didnt want to take out a loan to buy a couple rounds of beers. Of all the outrageous prices in the dome...what they are charging for a draft beer is the most egregious.

I think Oettinger's luck has run out, as we started to see in the back half of game 4. If the Flames continue to attack the net like they were the other night, they'll win this series.

They need to come out of the gate flying tonight, get the first goal, and just continue to come at Dallas in waves. When the Flames get their forecheck rolling, the Stars have no answer.

Ha ha ha. Exact same scenario for me. The Flames have lost the last few games I have attended including Game 2 so I declined a ticket for this one.
