The amount of effort Ron obviously put into that interjected monologue was downright sad. He can't even bring himself to tell it like it is after a bad period.
He tries so hard. But his team continually proves they aren't what he's trying to convince people (and himself) that they are.

Oilers seriously think they can beat the Flames, Avs, Canes, ect. when they are having this much trouble with the Kings missing Doughty?
And next year they will bring back a worse team and still consider themselves a contender
