Hell...a big reason I watch a lot of these games alone isnt just because of convenience.

I mean...we have to take a sense of humour about this at some point. We're passionate, every little mistake or call that doesnt go your way is amplified by x1000 but you're on the internet! Who cares? You're not hurting anyone, you're just venting.

And then to have that thrown back at you later? Its an opportunity to either laugh at yourself (important skill!) or if you must, learn to tone it down.

Or not. It is still supposed to be fun.
Yeah. Honestly with some of these rather poor arguments against it (cause they think it's somehow rude or a personal slight to repost something they knowingly said) I feel almost tempted to make it even more cheeky and ruthless (I won't though.. for now). Yet to hear an argument that isn't just an overblown, personal overreaction.

As you said, its such an essential skill to be able to be a little self depricating from time to time and not take yourself too seriously.

I mean ####.. it's only life. We were made with emotions and it makes us say dumb things sometimes. How about we embrace that and laugh at it, rather than perpetually live with our defenses up towards anything that can even slightly taken the wrong way.

I don't need to be on no wall of shame. Just click "find more posts by Cecil Terwilliger" to see my wall of shame.

Or the one about the D-core being kinda undersized and average, maybe you disagree with it which is obviously fine, those are subjective terms, but it's not exactly a hot take or unhinged in any way. Even Mangiapane being 'hot garbage', I don't think anyone would say he's playing very well right now, and what, that claim is completely disproven now because the top line and PP scored all the Flames goals and they happened to win? I don't get the complaints about 'negativity', when you have a team underperforming their usual level and in a dogfight against a bottom seed not scoring goals, people are gonna be upset...maybe you guys should start a positivity thread where you can only say nice happy things and that way you won't have to read anything that upsets you?

Obviously trolling or crazy hot takes is not good but if that wall is supposed to be calling out those things...seems like you reached for most of them
Part of the joke is including what were clearly jokes. Even purposely out of context.

I think a few or even a lot of fans are not reading this current Flames team the right way and may have to adjust their perception.

Like last night for example, Dallas wasn’t coming back down 3-1, just the way the Flames were playing. There was a couple posts saying that. Same with the pre playoff threads, posters saying the Flames will disappear again in the playoffs, why would they when they were consistent all season.

It’s different now even compared to Bill Peters coached team which was a pretty good regular season team.

Lol! Half of this board knows exactly who I am in real life and I still say what I say.

I actually thought they got what they deserved when they started booing the powerplay.

Cecil is just gonna lay it on thick in game threads on purpose now.

He was born and bred in sarcastic negativity, we merely adopted it.

I'm not familiar with the Stars fanbase as a whole, but what I saw from the crowd last game was pathetic.

Booing your team in a playoff game, down a goal and overall up in the series at that time...really? Talk about home ice advantage

And credit to Scorp for identifying a certain boring passenger:

Actually, based on the the start of this video, probably an indicator that Johnny and Monny are still seat-mates on the team plane:

Oh you know the wave debate is coming back next game.

Hell, there might even be two waves if we go up early.

Okay, I have clients who work for the Flames, so I get the odd tidbit here and there and I dont think this is any secret or anything since Treliving alluded to it in his Monahan Presser.

But Monahan is looked upon by the entire Organization, all of the staff, players, coaches, everyone to be highly, highly respected.

He is a 'Team First' ultimate Professional. Everyone loves him and he'll do anything for the team. They specifically wanted him doing his surgical rehab locally and around the team because he is still very much considered still a part of the team.

He's still there.

Not a player that goes and gets season-ending surgery somewhere and retires to his summer home, he's still in the trenches and with them every step of the way.

You’d think it’s a no-brainer that a core guy on the shelf accompanies the team for support. But it’s not that common.

You're absolutely right. It isnt that common.

Standard practice would be for them to get their surgery done wherever and then just go home and show up either at Training Camp or another determined time.

Because you can do your rehab pretty well anywhere but Monahan chose to stay with his team.

Thats how tight this group is.

I'd be pissed if they didn't keep him near the team through this run.

Injured, healthy or scratched, Monahan is a core part of the Flames.

This whole rebuild started with him and he's never wavered in his loyalty or commitment. I want him there, ready with boring pep talks for the boys the whole way.

I want to be clear.

Keeping him with the team was clearly the Organization's Preference. Monahan didnt have to do it. He chose to do it. He wants to be there.
