Default Flames win 4-1! Series tied 2-2

There's some truth to the refs throwing a wet blanket on the play, but their motivations aren't entirely malicious either.

I don’t consider the reffing malicious in this series. It’s just that they are influencing the game too much. They are trying to define in their terms how the series should go. And I don’t think their method is working in terms of quelling the physicality/goons.

And they obviously aren’t doing this stuff for player safety. If they’re really trying to keep players safe, the league/officials would have given Jamie Benn at least a game for what he tried to do to Mangiapane with his stick a couple games ago. Doesn’t matter if it resulted in an injury or not… the intent to stab a player in face/eye with a stick was there and all they did was a fine. Nothing to a player making Benn’s money.

I dunno.

I like reading people's thoughts, opinions and feelings.

This team has been mediocre at best (and thanks Jay Random, I know what mediocre means) for quite a while. Are we surprised that fans are mostly pessimistic?

What I don't like are a lot of the responses towards those posts.

Basically most end up being "your thoughts, feelings and opinions are wrong". Or "here's a nitpick, look how smart I am" (note: you're not smart).

Goddamned walls of text in response. Who the hell cares. You can write how YOU feel without knocking down someone else's. These posters rarely post their own thoughts, opinions and feelings. They just respond to other people's. Rambling dialogs about stats, models, minutiae. Patronizing garbage. Yippee.

A lot of it ends up being passive aggressive insults towards the poster. I think this is why forums are dead. Hiding behind a handle and then going right up against the boundary that the rules set. At least on FB the nutters are being themselves and using their real name. Even Reddit is slowing down if not outright shrinking, and they're mostly just dependent on naked women.

It's the piling on I don't like.

CP by its very nature is going to be biased towards the Flames, that is after all why we are all here.

What gets me is posters getting lit up for not taking the Flames side on every call, play, trade, draft selection, etc.

Also, the revisionist history is really something to behold.

Paid big big dividends.

Many were questioning this in the GDT.
I wanted to see it after game 3 but wasn't sure who he would replace in the lineup. In hindsight, swapping him with Ritchie made a lot of sense.

What hasn't been talked about was how this forced Sutter to not only juggle 7 D, but also rotate 11 forwards. Darryl stepping up his own game at a critical point in the series.

Looking at the stats every defenceman was between 10 and 20 minutes, and with the exception of Lindholm (21:38), every forward was between 10 and 18 minutes. Sutter hockey baby.

That's fine but it can't be a one way street. What if the Flames lose and "negative" posters making a wall of shame post mocking the "positive" posters that thought the Flames would win? Would that be welcomed? Of course not, nor would I expect the positive posters to have a "sense of humour about their misjudgements". The post was straight up in bad taste and maybe some posters need to look in the mirror and ask themselves if they want to be part of the problem or the solution because we have a divide between posters drawing lines in the sane and both sides can and should be better.

Yes. And this organization has made huge, huge blunders. Some of the worst in the NHL. Of course some people are going to be suspicious of their actions.

I don't think it bodes well to make a thread about ridiculing CP posters. It will just make people come here less. The ATL is more enjoyable because the people quoted don't post here, and mostly oblivious to what happens here. Just a helping of schadenfreude.

Again.

It's fun and games.

The only posters it would deter are ones who are overly sensitive and take that stuff and themselves way too seriously.

And we know you won't leave at the end of the day just because you can't laugh at yourself.

But don't Will Smith the fun for the rest of us just cause its not up your alley.

You don't have to look at it if you don't like it.

Just scroll right on past.

If I ended up in there I would just laugh it off. It is a hockey forum, who cares if your hot take gets called out. My favorite is Infiniti(?) who keeps calling Markstrom a bum lol.

No need for a wall of shame but if people are going to post things like "Markstrom is not elite" because he allowed 4 goals in 3 games they should expect some backlash

its just a terrible take...stats and NHL GMs say otherwise.

Most of the overly negative posters are just trying to get a rise anyway or fake Flames fans like "Meh" who is actually Oiler fan "Mass19" using an alt account to get people going (yes this was confirmed he was caught red handed)

Omg, you posters who like to dish out the negatives but are pissed because your public comments are presented in the same public forum that you originally b*tched in?

It’s a PUBLIC FORUM. Once you post it, your comments are now for anyone to do whatever they want to do with them. Have you not learned from twitter?

Now give it a rest, suck it up, live and learn and every other cliche you want to insert here. If you can’t take sarcasm or laugh at yourself then stop posting the very sh*t that your complaining about.

/vent

Cheers!

No need for a wall of shame but then you make some compelling arguments for why it is a great idea.

You guys are funny.

Oh man I forgot to add that Markstrom comment about him being "by far the worst goalie on the ice" after allowing one goal late.

That one was gold.

I made a drunkin ass of myself with my posts Saturday night. If I get called out for it, it's well deserved.

If you post drunk or overly emotional it's your own damn fault.

I felt so honored to be on it. I like to think I'm generally a glass half full kind of fan but this series has tested me more than I'd like to admit.

From my quote that made the wall of shame, am I honestly the only one that felt like Dallas was going to get a flukey goal after the Flames completely dominated the first half of the game?

What a brutally terrible take in arguably the most wire-to-wire dominant playoff game the Flames have played in more than a decade. Holy crap.

yeah I talked myself into it lol

people constantly call me a homer and cheerleader...I had the audacity to say the Flames would get a pacific division spot and that Markstom would be a vezina finalist and was mocked pretty hard.

I also said Kylington wasn't going to be an NHL regular and that was certainly brought up...when I ate crow and praised his play ironically.

Last night I was an "over the top homer" for saying Tkachuk was in on 75% of the Flames playoff goals when he had 3 points on 4 goals.

Shame away

FFS someone said the Flames were dominated in every facet of the game when they have been by far the better team in the series by any statistical metric
