I don’t think there’s any chance we get Ball in Round 2 should the flames get there.
If Toronto loses, CGY would get Cuthbert.
If Toronto wins, CGY would get Singh. They have Singh pencilled in as the number two guy for HNIC.
I suppose if it’s CGY/La, there’s sliver of a chance Ball gets it. But if it’s a BoA, Singh will get it. I remember ball telling Pinder in an interview that when it’s an all Canadian matchup on HNIC, they don’t give the call to a teams local broadcaster. That’s why Singh always gets the Saturday night BOA’s or Vs Vancouver over Ball or Jack Michaels.
Yeah if Leafs crash out it’s Cuthbert and Simpson, out west..who are fine as well.
Singh is too inexperienced, plain and simple. He tries to make up for by being 1000% prepared with stats and notes, but it becomes a stats and notes overload and repeating the tired storylines everyone as a fan of those teams know ad nauseam. The call of the game is choppy, lacks some confidence especially when pace picks up. And, forcing in the storylines and stats to sound smarter takes away from the call and misses some obvious and important plays.
He’s been thrown into something that other announcers take many many years of practice, so it’s not fair to him.
I don’t thin Michaels has, or ever will do, a non Oilers broadcast. Ball may well do another US series this playoffs if Snet picks one up to call.
Honestly people get away saying so much toxic stuff in GT threads I usually avoid them at all costs. Kinda funny to see some accountability after the game.
