I would really like Matt and Johnny to come in today and cave in their doubters heads. Then we could all finally put some certain posters in their rightful spots, back to shutting the F up.
GFG. Play hard again, and one of Lucic, Gudbranson, Zadorov you are kindly requested to fulfill your duties and feed Benn and Suter their teeth.
I'm feeling good about this one too. We haven't been blown out, all the games have been close. I'd even venture to say that the Stars have brought their A game while the Flames are still finding theirs.
Sutter has been here before, he'll have them ready to go and playing as a 5 man unit. I'm even considering putting some money down on them tonight, and I've never done that before.

That will NEVER happen.
If the Flames win the next 4 in a row (eliminating the Stars and winning game 1 of round 2), then lose game 2, the usual suspects would all return, whining that the Flames can't make it easy, can't keep rolling. can't blah, blah, blah.
Those people will never change, no matter how much success the Flames have.
If the Flames win the Cup, they'll whine about one and done.

For me our players trying to hard to play "playoff" hockey. Fighting, looking for a hit, or perfect execution or something. In other word our top guys are missing "playoff hockey winning" experience.
I understand they need more speed, work harder and try to win puck battles.
But try use your strength, take control the game flow and do whatever you did during the season. Use sticks more and block the passes instead of try unnecessary hits.
And please make Oettinger's work harder. Make him move side to side and make the second, third save. Block his sight and use deflections and rebounds.
I hope we will win tonight if Sutter makes all that changes and fix our game a little bit.
Get on a 1.2 (mild heater) PDO run and win 9 of 11 games etc.
Get on a stretch where it's 0.9 range and they lose three of four, but get some OT points.
The Flames are shooting 3.13% in all situations, the average playoff team is 9.25%. Calgary has had 96 shots which is the difference of 9 goals vs the 3 they've scored.
In the regular season the Flames shot 10.0%, and the average NHL team was 9.56%.
Seems to me the Flames are very due for a correction .. the issue? Time. In the regular season you know it's going to come around, in the playoffs it better come around quickly.
High danger chance generation:
Regular season the Flames were 11th at 12.31/game all situation. They gave up 9.75/game all situations, good for 2nd.
Regular season league average 11.56/game
Playoffs they are generating 13.0 per game, good for 6th, and giving up 10.3/game, good for 3rd ... once again all situations.
Playoff average is 12.0.
If you drill deeper they're not as good five on five, but have had a much more potent powerplay without the results.
Honestly ... pretty much everything points to the dam breaking.

Don't think I'll watch tonight unless I check the score and see the Flames up by a couple. Hoping they make me feel like I've missed out and totally dominate the Stars tonight.
I get ya Johhny. We were chatting about this the other night. I really shouldn't watch either - my stress level just goes through the roof.
But of course I will tune in and live and die with every moment.
I think riding my exercise bike with the game on should help.
