Must win game tomorrow but I have confidence the Flames will pull it off. My only gripe is they Flames (mainly Chucky) is spending way to much time on Klingberg. Forget about him and leave it for Zads or Lucic to deal with.
Keep the positive vibes going for the boys.

I don’t know what it is, but it doesn’t matter what incarnation of the team it is, we just seem to always fall short of expectations when it matters most. Why is that? I have no idea, but with the season this group has put together, it just doesn’t seem right that losing in the first round is the proper outcome.

I have also been a die hard Flames fan since the first game at the
Coral. I've seen this one trick pony several times before. I was one of the poster's who posted concerns about this team and got savaged for my opinion. I agree with the poster who's postings states that we will never win a cup with Gaudreau as our superstar. Let him walk and for goodness sake do not qualify Tkachuk at 9 million. Use the money to get some quality players who can score 20 to 25 goals and let's get on with it.

Confidence is a big part of this and it has been lacking for decades throughout the organization and fan base. The players are trying to project confidence, but you've gotta believe this is tough for them getting held to a goal a game. Silver lining is the Vegas odds are about even now for the series, so I'm gonna have a friend in Denver put $ on the Flames to win and double down on my support for Johnny and the gang. GFG!

Yes. This exactly. Flames started deviating from the game plan starting with the end of the first period in game one. It was nearly a perfect period up until that point: disciplined hockey. The second period was a mess. The Flames pulled things back together about mid-way into the third. But you could see guys starting to unravel.
Past two games I see guys playing scared. I think it is mostly a fear of making a mistake, but I also think the Stars are getting in their heads with all the dirty crap they're largely getting away with. Hanifin and Andersson are kind of the barometer, when they're on their game the rest of the team follows, when they're treating the puck like a hand grenade it's chaos. Sutter needs to settle those two down.
Flames are making it hard on themselves, no doubt. They need to get back to what works. Watch that first period of game one over and over (up until the last minute, that is).

Flames will rattle off four straight wins and this thread will be enshrined as one of the biggest embarrassments in CP history.

Totally agree and Anderson is trying to be the third thug.

Why is it an embarrassment? Frustrated fans watching a frustrating team. And we've all seen this movie before. We want to be proven wrong. And it's 3 wins they need.

Like James Neal and Toffoli?
They have to go for a long rebuild if they don’t sign Johnny and Tkachuk

Honestly Lucic, Gudbranson, Zadorov and Ritchie should be the thugs out there. They should be the ones stepping in the middle of the extracurricular activities. Instead Tkachuk and Andersson may now be both playing injured. It's their own fault for being undisciplined, but if the bigger guys were doing their jobs they wouldn't be in the middle of it in the first place.
Honestly I'm surprised those four have been so quiet on a Sutter team this deep into the series. I expected an ugly game one to set the tone, but it was mostly the Stars bringing the ugly that game. Very disappointed so far. They're all here to bring a key element to this team and instead its our stars getting beaten up.

Its interesting, people freaking out, saying its done are a lot of the same people that were convinced the Flames were going to win in 5 games and that Dallas was the matchup they wanted. I argued you cannot underestimate the Stars, as far as playoff success goes as they've been there done that and recently.
Toffoli looks like broken Sean Monahan out there. Bobbling pucks, behind the play, bad decisions with the puck, pucks dying on his stick. It's bizarre because he just came off a playoff run that went to the finals and was a big part of that team.
Agree with a shakeup. Put Coleman back with Mangiapaine and Backlund, Toffoli with Dube and Jarnkrok. Or pull Jarnkrok and insert Ruzicka to center Toffoli and Dube. Sutter always states all lines play the same way so changing players shouldn't matter. Some shakeup here is needed.
Having a real problem with offensive decisions by Hanifin. Puck is being whipped around and when he gets it he just fires it at the net regardless of who is open. Some real bad shots, mostly without traffic. Last minutes of that game really highlighted this. You have Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Lindholm all with 40 goals and Hanifin is the one who keeps taking that shot? The tunnel vision is real.
I said Flames in 7. That means I expected we lose 3. I understand this fanbases frustration as I've been a fan for a long long time and lived all the heartache. This year seemed so different. But I won't give up on them until its actually over.
Flames win game 4 and its a suddenly all tied up and a 3 game series.

Is it just me thinking that trying to run the Stars out of the rink in game one was a bad idea… It seemed to energize the Stars and throw the Flames of their own game . Who’s stupid idea was that! It never works . Secondly Chucky seems more interested in creating mayhem then playing hockey and this is nothing new with him.

Big picture I like the team composition a lot and feel they've been unlucky not to score more, the dallas goalie to me looks like he has good positioning but slow reflexes and has his posts and lucky bounces to thank for a good chunk of his stat line.
That said two big events changed the narrative this year significantly, that last minute choke job by the preds against the yotes turned round 1 from a walk in the park to a very difficult series. And also the power balance shifted earlier this year when the oilers grabbed kane. It was a worst possible outcome for the flames. It hurts seeing him reverse their season so dramatically because he is such a dirtbag and the team with no Morale standards is being rewarded hugely.
Still plenty of time to change the narrative and thrive despite the adversity for the flames though, I do expect them to grab game 4

They are going to get 5 wins this series just to prove everyone extra wrong.

What frustrates me is how Klingberg is living rent free in their heads because he shot his mouth off, while Benn is skating around handing out cheap shots with absolutely no response from our guys. Why have players like Lucic and Ritchie if not to send the message that this won't be tolerated? That stick-in-the-face-through-the-net garbage from Benn on Mangiapane was bush league garbage, but the Flames seem fine with it. Meanwhile an idiot shoots his mouth off and our impact guys have forgotten how to play hockey.

If the Flames get out of this series with the way they're playing, the Oilers will kick our ass.
