That was incredibly disheartening. One of the worst efforts since Darryl Sutter took over the team and it just feels unsettling.

I think this is a bit extreme. Not a lot of chances going either way. Flames had multiple odd man rushes they didn’t convert on.
Im most worried about the lack of generation from the top line, but I think they can break through. In the mean time the team game has been good.

There was nothing statistical or mathematical about this game that should make anyone feel better about the giant turd that the Flames just laid.

Oh, this brings back bad memories of 2006.. where is the offence? That was a pretty boring game. I did not want to finish it.

Flames dominated the last 2 periods and took the game over. In the third period you could see Bowness telling his team to calm dowm as they had lost control of the game.

The most concerning part for me regarding the top line was seeing Johnny gain the line and button hook everytime. Exactly what’s made him predictable and ineffective in the past when he’s not going.
I think we need to move Tkachuk onto Backlunds line where he’s proven offensive chemistry in the past moving Toffoli onto the “top line”.

Did anyone go to both games and can comment on crowd noise in game 1 vs game 2?

Its probably more so that the Flames have the least goals for after 2 games (1). And after this teams playoff history I think fans are allowed to at least say the were hoping for just a little more so far.
Best of 5 now. Win the next one.

And our PP is not good. Need use Tkachuk, Toffoli as front net position and get tip or deflection and score dirty goals.

So how many periods that the Flames dominate do you think we should appreciate before they put one even strength point on the board?

One thing that needs to improve is activation of the defensemen when cycling the puck. If the three forwards are just working the perimeter by themselves they’re not going to win the battles. There were very few times tonight when there was a flames d-man below the opposing hashmarks. Need to get aggressive and cause some chaos.

The last two times that Dallas was in the playoffs they lost in Overtime of game 7 to St. Louis who eventually won the cup. Than they went to the Cup Final and lost that in 6 to Tampa. So this is a team who has enough guys who know how to play hockey that wins in the playoffs.
I expected a tough series, and if the Flames are going to win, I'm sure it will be 7 games and they'll all be close. Flames are going to need to find a way to get to the net and find some pucks in traffic.

Even more interesting is that you’d really have to go out of your way to find people freaking out. Most of the comments seem fairly focused on one bad effort.
I’ve seen way worse freakouts in August before.

Dallas is beatable and I’m not that worried. If we come back from Dallas tied 2-2, Flames will win. Hell even if we come back down 3-1 we will have a shot at winning.
Truth is Calgary is a better team but Calgary can’t think it going into any game. Can we do like a media blackout for the players? Phones in the bucket yiu get them back after playoffs?
Players worst enemy is their own overconfidence leading to poor efforts. Lucic, you should be making a hit or two every shift otherwise why are you there? Stuff like that.
They’ll come out strong in game 3 and win I bet.
Thought Markstrom was really good tonight. So that’s a huge positive and I think Gaudreau will be fine.

Frustrating but still not worried. Feels like we are playing down to the level of Dallas.
Need to find the real Flames and they will.
