It seems like range is going to win the current artillery battle. Surely, if the Ukrainians get weapons that can match Russia's artillery range, they will come out ahead. The Ukrainians seem to have a massive edge in real-time intelligence. That being said, Russia still has enormous air superiority. I guess depending on how mobile the Ukrainian artillery is, the Russians could just bomb it from the skies.

There's already reports coming in of Ukrainian success with artillery. Hopefully, that keeps up.

As for things closing in around Putin, I wonder if he's using this war to cull his own commanders. There are many reports of higher ranking military officers being killed. It would be pretty easy for Putin to give his competitors the more dangerous military assignments.

Ukrainian 2A65 Msta-B, so much for the OSINT Aggregator. Saw another pic with what appeared to be UKr training on the M777.

Though if those are normal 152mm shells (and not something for training), that guy casually loading it must be freakishly strong. Those things are ~100 lbs.

There was rumours earlier yesterday that the Admiral Makarov got hit with a Neptune missile, which turned out to be true and the ship is now most likely already sunk.

https://twitter.com/user/status/1522509777053618176

Ironically this article was written hours before the rumours.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidax...h=36f985af74d5

It's about 1/3 the size of the Moskva, but it's a modern russian warship built in 2017, unlike the Moskva which is a Soviet era relic. It's capable launching multiple Kalibr cruise missiles and was one of the main ships which was destroying Ukraininan targets from the sea, unlike the Moskva which did not have cruise missiles and used mainly as a defense ship.

This loss is just as significant as the Moskva if not moreso. Most notable is the distance, meaning Ukraine has the ability to attack Sevastopol if they chose to do so.

It sounds like things are not going well. The main source of the story claims that they actually have no affiliation with the Ukrainian Army, but it's more like a private army that the main organizer uses for personal glory. Allegations of infighting and only enough weapons for 30% of the people in it.

There is a lot of stuff in there.

Different classes of ships the Moskva was really built as a Carrier killer, which it probably wouldn't have done all that well. This one is a multi-purpose frigate in that it can engage in anti-submarine, ground attack and act as a screening ship to something valuable.

Russian naval tactics are taking a beating here.

Yikes, sounds like a ship show. I think this might be different than the ‘Canadian Battalion’ which I thought was part of the international legion. Not sure if it was ever an official thing though or just some cool badges.

Now we await the Russia confirmation that it was a storm or some kind of fire that caused the damage.

The Russian forces in the Black Sea are led by 3 of these frigates? With now possibly one of those sunk. And I guess formerly their lead ship in the region, the Moskva.

If you could see a clear objective for Russia in this conflict, you could somehow rationalize their commitment to it despite the huge material losses.

But I can't see WHY they are in Ukraine at all, and why they are sticking with it after losing literal BILLIONS of dollars worth of equipment. For what? Not to mention the sanctions that will carry on.

Just GTFO of Ukraine, and go back to playing King of the land peacefully.

Yeah, it is kind of confusing. It sounds like the 500 Canadians that were getting media attention earlier actually joined an international brigade and just had unique patches. The group in this report sound like something else. It actually sounds like they are more of a liability that the Ukrainians have to feed and look out for,
