No one ever debated that Kane was going to be a good hockey pick up.

But it never will negate the fact that he's a #### guy and no other teams would bite on a contract for the guy because it would be an indictment on their team's integrity and culture.

Not a problem for the spineless Oilers though.

Whoever thinks people bash the acquisition from a hockey standpoint are completely missing the point.

Long rants to defend/justify it are even sadder.

As much as I want LA to pull this off, I don’t feel good about this game. If LA doesn’t strike first and strike hard, this has a 5-1 Oilers win all over it.

I don't need this kind of negativity in my life.

Six hours before puck drop, and you already know how the game is going? All righty then.

Pretty fortunate for the Oilers to face the Kings with a significant loss like that...and they still got out chanced 5v5.

Oiler's media by tomorrow: "Got'em right where we want them, if the refs would make the right calls"
And their best dman out

Rebuilding team missing two of their best players beat the Oilers 7 years after drafting McDavid with their 4th first overall

Gee I think the Oilers are going to poop the bed and Smith is going to completely unravel right from puck drop. He's under a ton of pressure right now, something he deals with extremely poorly.

I hate to say it, but their ability to find new and hilarious ways to lose is the one thing that makes the Oilers amazing.

You're right, I'm full of ####. I didn't hate to say that at all.

Kane is a perfect example. Capable of putting up good stats in the regular season, but a terrible person to add to your team in terms of character needed for team success. The Sharks made it to the conference finals with Kane in 2019, but he only contributed 8 points and was a -4, on a team that actually had some great leaders. That's the best of his playoffs experience. Now he's on a team where the only real leader with a history of success is Kieth, and he's not even playing a central role.

We'll see how those guys hang together when the going gets really tough.

Game 2 is HUGE for the Oil.

"In NHL best-of-seven series, the winner of Game 2 has gone 381-150 -- winning 71.8 percent of the series. Game 1 winners have gone 367-164 -- a 69.1 percent winning percentage.

Teams that have won both games to go up, 2-0, have gone 254-37 -- 87.2 percent."

from: https://www.nhl.com/news/the-importa...ame-2/c-418677

That is for all game 2's, losing both at home, I would think, is much worse.

They might give it to their opponents! If I'm LA player, I'll be pissed.

Game Over if there's an early Smith meltdown... Kostin'Em coming in cold will yield equal disaster.

Prediction:

Smith let’s in 3 goals on 10 shots within the first 15 minutes. Gets pulled but not before barking at his teammates for screening him. Koskinen goes in and let’s in another goal on his first shot. Crowd rains down sarcastic cheers when he stop a puck from center ice on his first save of the game.
