If the wave is going to be this team's undoing then we've got bigger problems than we thought.
0 shots in the last half of the third and the Stars missing on their only good chances. Looks like it actually brought good juju. Maybe we need more waves.

I dont understand how Dallas was the least penalized team in the league. Or maybe now I do. The amount of interference they got away with was insane.
On that note, wtf is with them blatantly pulling the helmet off our players during play so that guy has to skate off the ice? One way to win a battle I guess but that #### really needs to be a penalty. They did it multiple times last night. Once to Lindholm in front of the net, another to Lewis along the boards and I think there might have been another.
Embarassing. Wake up refs.

I don't disagree, although, I think with the new rule, it is kind of selfish of hockey players to have their helmet straps so loose that they are at risk of having them come off as easily as they sometimes do.
Flames won a close game by imposing their will on the Stars, so we're down to minutiae like The Wave and whether white jerseys are acceptable playoff game garments.

Namestnikov straight up tackled Dube 1:40 seconds into the game, nowhere near the puck. Dube had just made a hit and was agitating for sure, but nothing against the rules. There was no way the refs didn't see it. I assumed at that point that they were going to let a lot of stuff go.
However the refs decide to call it, I just wish they would be consistent.

I agree. Multiple times when Lucic, Ritchie, anyone really, went to check the Stars puck carrier in the Stars zone near the boards a Dallas players would just glide right into the path of the checker. Seems like a fairly straightforward interference call to me. Maybe I was looking into those too much.
Yeah the top line was invisible five on five. They literally generated nothing.
To put it in perspective ...
Top line averaged a xGF last night of 0.09 ... less than 10% of a five on five goal.
On the season they averaged 0.79 xGF per game, and didn't have a single night at the 0.09 level. Their worst game in the regular season was the Nov 11th game in Montreal at 0.17.
So yeah ... I hear you, and the breeze comment.
Other way to look at it though ... Flames are up 1-0 with their top line playing their worst five on five game of the year! Like the odds of them improving from rock bottom.
Felt that little breeze too. Johnny looked very frustrated out there with little room to move. Playoff hockey. Lets hope he adjusts.
Powerplay also looked quite off as game went on.
The top line did have THE SHIFT at the end of the game to pin Stars at wrong end of the rink. There is that...
Hoping Darryl's got some ideas how to free some space for Johnny.
I like the wave. I remember my very first Flames game as a kid seeing the wave and it was a core memory of that game as I found 19000 people doing it in unison to be just the most amazing thing to see.
My dad had seasons tickets for 25 years and the thought never once crossed my mind that there were certain times to do the wave or not. I don't recall it ever blocking my ability to continue to watch the game while participating.

I’m not superstitious at all, highly doubt the wave affects the game itself, players are in the zone and not paying attention to the fans during play. I’m at the game to watch the game, the wave blocks my view in a suspenseful game. That’s all. If I stood up the whole time to get a clear view, I’m sure the people behind me would be pissed too.
If it’s a blowout game and the play is inconsequential at that point, I’m doing the wave with everyone else.
I'd actually prefer we all stay standing to cheer and watch the suspenseful game in the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period. Nashville crowds do it well. It's not like going to a movie. I'd rather we not use the seat at all. The people behind should stand up too.
If you are unable to stand to watch a playoff game I think you have to be strategic about where your seats are. Not reasonable to expect fans at a playoff game to sit during the biggest moments.
I think the wave is fine if we are up by 2 or more in the 3rd, but in a 1 goal came it feels clueless.
