It's actually whoever instigates a fight. Hence it being called the "instigator rule".

Not in this case, they were both ejected for a secondary fight
NHL doesn't like fun

Ya the penalty parade, the “your ad could be here” instead of the playoff logo, lack of shots and goals.
Kinda an average day in January feel

Penalties definitely have slowed everything down, but in general I always find games against these guys are boring.

Referees have the ability to absolutely kill a game. It’s happening tonight. No flow at all.
Not all the calls have been bad but there’s way too many of them. Put the whistles away FFS. This is brutal to watch.

No.
46.7 Fighting After the Original Altercation - A game misconduct penalty
shall be imposed on any player who is assessed a major penalty for
fighting after the original altercation has started.
Notwithstanding this rule, at the discretion of the Referee, the
automatic game misconduct penalty may be waived for a player in the
altercation if the opposing player was clearly the instigator of the
altercation.

Same here. They have always been playing like this since they came in to the league, doesn't matter who the coach is.

Happy we are up but this has been pretty pathetic from an entertainment standpoint because of the refs. Don’t get how the NHL thinks this is the standard that should be used to sell the game. I’ve seen baseball games more exciting than whatever was that excuse of a period. Come on Gary…do better.

I love bourbon, but I stopped buying it a few years ago. I don’t want to do anything to support Kentucky as long as they keep voting for that mendacious turtle McConnell.

It truly is unbelievable.
Playoff hockey use to be so exciting. Beginning to end. Just tough, tough hockey. And every player knew it was going to be a grind. And as a fan, man, it was unbelievable. Every game. Flames or not.
But this is borderline unwatchable. At this point, building a team around a powerplay seems like the best plan.

Which was the case here with Klingberg, he was clearly the instigator and Andersson’s game misconduct should have been waived.

Lifetime Suspension

Just like LA last night, Flames would run away with it without the excessive penalties to slow them down.
But last night they put them away in the third. Lord let it be the same here.
