Default How are you watching in the US?

I've a subscription to ESPN+ (a Disney+ bundle) but when trying to watch a game I'm asked for my "provider". So ESPN+ doesn't show games like in the regular season?

I've now signed up for a trial SlingTV account, Blue with the Sports Extra package (though is this extra package necessary?) and I added Sling as my provider to EPSN+. Still, game streaming never launches. Through the Sling website, I don't see any way to watch a game.

Any help is appreciated, how are others in the US watching?

It looks like you can watch the games on-demand through your ESPN+ subscription. You just can’t watch them live unless you also have a cable TV provider.

On the US feed for Edm/LA it's Gord Miller who is awesome and Cassie Campbell who is doing fine so far.

There's a 50 percent discount deal going on for the first month of Sling. (I'm a previous subscriber and was still able to get it)

I tried Sling and FuboTV, but they didn't have everything, so I finally forked up the cash and paid for DirecTV.

What weren't you able to get on Sling?

I tried Sling during the regular season about two years ago. At that time, they only had half the games.

Do they have more now?

Yes, these playoffs are apparently going to be spread across ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, TNT, and TBS. I believe I was able to get all of those channels here in Cali.

I think I heard them say during the 1st period that they would also be in Calgary tomorrow night.

I believe you need the orange package for the ESPN games. The sports extra is NHL Network and that kind of thing.

This is what it turned out to be. I switched from Blue to Orange, and I have the games now.

Thanks to everyone for help and suggestions.

Tomorrow's game is on ESPN2. May 5 is TBS. May 7 TNT. May 9 TBS. You can subscribe to Youtube TV and get it all on there.

The ESPN panel with Kouleas, Messier and Chelios is hot garbage.

I pay about $50,000 a year for every cable channel plus most streaming platforms so I should be set.

But the problem with still be if a prior game goes long. If relying on cable, you get screwed.

Thankfully Sling Orange covers all those as well.

Yeah the inability to watch the games on ESPN+ test I subscribed to for the regular season is the final nail in my nhl fandom. Will check out the scores and watch the odd game on 66 but I’m done supporting this league

I suppose I get some of the outrage, but ESPN+ is way cheaper ($70 annually compared to $150+ per season) than NHL Center Ice/NHL.tv/etc were, and those packages never included the vast majority of playoff games because they've always been on national cable in the US and nationally televised games are always blacked out.

This comes from a hardcore fan who has spent 25 years cheering for the Flames on foreign soil...to me, ESPN+ was welcomed as a better platform that also includes other sports at a big discount on the prior options.

With a lot of cheap ways to watch the various cable networks, it seems a bit harsh to give up on the NHL over this, but to each their own.

Does Sling offer a free trial? Or is just half off ($17 in my case) for the first month?

I know at one point (at least, I think) YouTube TV offered a free trial--I did it last year for the World Cup games on ESPN.
