Has there ever in history been a more useless, senseless war for no reason?
It’s been 2 months and the whole world still can’t figure out what Russia is doing or why. Just ridiculous.
That's what I think before going to bed and when I wake up. The #### is all this for? What exactly has been accomplished? What kind of progress could Russia possibly expect to be make on this day?
Women of all ages and little children raped, murdered and tortured for no reason other than the invading soldiers using their penises as weapons. Putin than rewards them with medals. I guess that is something accomplished
No objectives accomplished in Kyiv or Kharkiv other than brave soldiers targeting civilian locations from far away with artillery like a bunch of f'ing pussies. So brave!
Not to mention this has all resulted in:
- < 3 months, a much more united, expanding and funded NATO alliance that guaranteed will never get lax again as long as Russia and China exist
- A much more well trained and armed Ukrainian army that is now getting the heavier arms that Russia desperately wanted to avoid them getting. So much for demilitarizing Ukraine you dummies. Now they have extra heavy arms flowing in AND will forever be highly regarded by armed forces around the world
- Sanctions that will negatively shape the Russian economy and landscape for much of the remainder of my adult life. We were a world that used to tolerate Russian actions, and now the world despises much about them, perhaps for generations to come
The list goes on and on. And for what, a stupid parade on May 9 where they will celebrate how they defeated the Nazis 80 years ago...only to become the Nazis themselves?? Congratulations you dumb ####s.

The image of superior Russian military might has been completely shattered. All they have shown is how completely inept and corrupt thier military is. This was a disastrous campaign. Did nobody in putins circle see this coming? Or were they to afraid too tell him the truth.
Not only are they losing fighting age men at an astonishing rate but billions of dollars of equipment that will be hard to replenish with sanctions on thier country.
All is left is thier nuclear arsenal. All they have succeeded in is becoming north korea 2.0. With war crimes that will not be forgotten, they have become a paraiah state.

It surprised me that Ukraine has done so well while obviously suffering so badly.
At the start I thought that perhaps Putin was terminally ill.
I could see no rational explanation for his aggression.
Now I fear with Russia embarrassing itself, Putin perhaps under some time pressure; that they might escalate.
I hope for the Russians to come to their senses. Perhaps the military finally has enough.
Seems like Chief of General Staff Gen. Gerasimov was wounded in the hit on the RuAF command post near Izyum. This would be the equivalent of Mark Milley being nearly KIA.

With how things are going for Russia, there is a fair chance tbay even if they fire a tactical nuke, it would be a dud. Obviously not a risk you can take, but something to consider about Russia escalating.
This is why the British PM's handwrite and seal 4 identical letters, one for each missile sub, to be opened in the event of a surprise nuclear strike on the UK.
The letters of last resort are four identically-worded handwritten letters from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to the commanding officers of the four British ballistic missile submarines.[A] They contain orders on what action to take in the event that an enemy nuclear strike has destroyed the British government, and has killed or otherwise incapacitated both the prime minister and their designated "second person", typically a high-ranking member of the Cabinet, such as the Deputy Prime Minister or the First Secretary of State, to whom the prime minister has designated the responsibility of choosing how to act, in the event that they die in office. In the event that the orders are carried out, the action taken could be the last official act of the United Kingdom.[2]
If the letters are not used during the term of the prime minister who wrote them, they are destroyed unopened after that person leaves office, so that their content remains unknown to anyone except the issuer.[3]

Even as a propoganda news anchor, how can you talk about what would be the end of your existence and every one you love with a smirk on your face? And all for what, Putin's pride?
No one wins in such a scenario. If those countries fail to intercept the nukes it still doesn't matter, Russia would be utterly forked.

Prior to this war, there was always this illusion that Russia posed some massive that that could just storm through a large part of the world if they wanted to. That's been totally proven false. I can't see Russia having any kind of success against a single medium sized power like Germany, Turkey, etc.. Let alone having any kind of ability to invade a major region.

The Red Army had that capability. Indeed, they already occupied all of Eastern Europe up to and including the Eastern parts of Germany.
As western militaries demobilized, there was really nothing stopping the big red machine from continuing the westward March.
The modern Russian army is nothing but a paper tiger compared to the Red Army of the 40s and 50s.

One thing the Red Army had going for it back then was that the idea of communism was still popular among many people in Eastern Europe. It hadn't yet failed or become the failed corrupt faux-communism that it naturally evolved into by the 1980s. Every country in Eastern Europe, and even some in Western Europe and Asia had Soviet parties with varying amounts of power. This meant that there was little resistance at first, with the exception of Hungary which was always a thorn in the side for the Red Army during occupation. The Russians did an amazing job exporting Soviet ideology. Putin sells Russia's current ideology to a degree with some takers like Orban, Le Pen, and Trump, but nothing compared to what the Soviets were able to pull off.
Most countries in Eastern Europe also felt betrayed by the West at the end of WW2 and lost the will to resist the Soviets or cooperate with the West.
