A much worse Blackhawks team exposed the Oilers last go round. The Kings this year are a better team than the Hawks were that year and similarly know how to win in the playoffs. The leadership gap is substantial. This series is a toss up imo, but won't be surprising if weak Oilers leadership shows their true colours again and they lose to another less talented team that simply has more character and willingness to do the things it takes to win.

Oilers in 5 . Wouldn’t be surprise if they sweep. They won’t be so lucky in the 2nd round

Don't forget Winnipeg also owning them. Of their 49 wins this season, only 38 were in regulation. They benefited greatly from 3-on-3 and shootouts.

The only thing I worry about is that they have become really good at selling the calls now with the refs. It must be the thing they work on the most at practice.

Reffing could definitely be a big factor in the series, and it would be awful watching the Oilers get through on special teams and chintzy calls if that's what happens. If they win, I would rather it be in a hard fought series of even strength rather than seeing it decided by dives and power plays. The inconsistency of reffing is one of the worst things about the NHL.

And the refs seem to fall for it every single time, which is incredibly annoying. The Oilers' ability to embellish and dive their way to PPs is the only thing that would worry me in regards to a potential BOA.

Hopefully we'll see the usual playoff style officiating where the whistles get put away for the most part. The ridiculous and obvious game management crap that we've seen in the regular season has somewhat ruined the game in recent years for me. If you're gonna call penalties, at least call the rule book the same for both teams and don't fall for McDingus' whiny bulls***.

The rest of what you said holds true though.
In round 2 aren't teams seeded based on record? That would mean Colorado 1 and Oliers 4 leading to that matchup (again assuming Colorado and Oilers win their 1st rounders)

Nope. It's set as a bracket now. 2nd round will be Oilers or Kings vs. Flames.

My concern is that with all the talk about officiating on McDavid in the playoffs last year they'll try to make up for it by calling everything this year.

I'm just happy I don't live in Edmonton anymore. Funny they didn't make the playoffs once in the 10 years I lived there, but yet the media was still insufferable.

Smith keeps his unbeaten streak alive until game 4. Oilers win in 5 at home.

If it were them and Calgary in round one totally...2nd biggest US market though. I've noticed Oilers coverage is a lot different in the States watching the US feed a lot this season.

Since when is LA the 2nd biggest US market? I always thought it was NYR, then Boston or Chicago.

Smith mishandles the puck in game 7 to give the Kings the series win. Book it
