Would you believe this is the first time the Flames will avenge a first round exit since 1983?
In 1982, the Flames lost to the Canucks in Round 1. The Flames avenged it next year.
Wish the 90's Flames teams had that opportunity. If only...
(I also know the Flames had an opportunity to avenge the 2015 Round 2 loss to Anaheim in 2017 via Round 1. Failed sadly and we got swept =(.)

Voted Dallas in 4 because the Hockey Gods need to make someone look foolish ... So it might as well be me! I'm taking one for the team.

Those stats are sourced from what happens on the ice. They’re just written down on paper so people can read them. It would be pretty hard to memorize all those stats for 32 teams.

this team is better than the 2004 team Darryl coached and this coach is (obviously) better than the last time we played the stars in the playoffs.
if my math checks out that equals Flames in 5 and then a deep playoff run for some unfinished business....GO FLAMES GO!

Wild-card standings, if OT/SO didn't exist:
WC1: Nashville (35-30-17)
WC2: Vegas (34-31-17)
Out: Vancouver (32-30-20)
Out: Dallas (31-30-21)
Playoffs are a different beast, obviously, but this is a team that needed a 15-6 record in the skills competition to make the playoffs by 4 points. Very winnable series if we play our game.

I didn’t feel comfortable at all about NSH and I think their building would be a tough place to play in the playoffs.
DAL is a more predictable opponent. We can limit their shots and danger chances.
Hoping our PK is sound. Even strength and PP favours the good guys.

Re a prediction, as Darryl said the only way a WC team advances is if the higher seed falls off the face of the Earth.

actually surprised, as Nashville was up 3-0 or something and Dallas had not started the game yet, so I assumed it would be a Nashville/Calgary first round matchup...

The lines Dallas has been rolling with:
ROBERTSON-Hintz-Pavelski -- 105G 232PTS +42 combined
Benn-Seguin-Gurianov -- 53G 126PTS -32 combined
Kiviranta-Faksa-Glendening -- 15G 42PTS -43 combined
Raffl-Namestnikov-Radulov -- 14G 43PTS -38 combined
Suter-Heiskanen -- 12G 68PTS +4 combined
Harley-Lindell -- 5G 25PTS even combined
Hanley-Hakanpaa -- 6G 18PTS -12 combined
Oettinger -- .914SV% 1SO
Wedgewood -- .913SV% 1SO
Klingberg is day-to-day.
Klingberg has the team's worst +/- at -28.
It is clear this team survives on special teams with those +/-.
Anyone who thinks the Flames are a one line team just needs to look at this group.
If the Flames can shutdown the Hintz line and stay out of the penalty box, Dallas has few weapons left.

Flames have never really found an answer for Pavelski. That will be the key to the series for the Flames. If they shut him down the should win handedly. If they can’t it’s going to be a long series.

I just hope he is disciplined and doesn’t take a lot of bad penalties as he’s prone to do at times.

Pound the stars ! No short memories fellas....you need to lay the beat down on them.
Tkachuk got speared by Benn and so the retaliation needs to be focused on the scoreboard only here.
Yeah I wanna see Benn, Seguin,Bowness all with teary eyes and snot bubbles curled up in the fetal position in the corner by the time this is over begging us to make it stop.
If they want rough and tumble I introduce you to a team that's got its share of Stanley Cup Champs too so bring it stars .....bring it.
I wonder if it'll be a bloodbath or if Darryl will allow that kind of game? I want us to advance as deep into the dance as possible so I guess we will see.
Maybe game 1 we set the tone and the Stars realize they can't beat this year's version of the Flames .
Can't wait.
Go Flames Go
