LMAO.

That is so obviously staged by the FSB trying to make it look like they caught someone red handed. A brand new looking Nazi t-shirt and a photograph of Hitler were among the possessions seized. Like all Nazi's carry around a photograph of Hitler and kiss it good night.

It's like the FSB gave a shopping list to some momo with items to purchase to stage as evidence. I could just imagine the person walking into Russian Best Buy and telling the clerk, I need to get three of the something called "sims" and not even realize what they are. Oh, and don't forget to add some kind of item with a skull on it and other types of swatikas, even if one is a Ladinets which has nothing to do with Nazis and is often used as a symbol of Slavic and Baltic unity (Ukrainians would not be using it as a symbol to separate themselves from Russians as it symbolizes common roots). It's a common image in folklore with no ill meaning, but hey, technically a "swastika", so add it to the evidence.

This is a hard read. Not going to quote anything from it. Ukraine needs to win this.

That is absolutely disgusting. Something needs to be done. No way Ukraine should be fighting this alone.

These scars will not heal. At least a whole generation lost.

The t shirt still has the crease on it from being in the package.

3 more jets down on April 25. A Su-34 (the one that did the spin), another Su-35, and a Su-30

85 million + 45 million + 35 million

Just another 165 million

That's now 9 confirmed jets down in 3 days.

Sweden and Finland have agreed to submit simultaneous membership applications to the US-led Nato alliance as early as the middle of next month, Nordic media have reported.

The Finnish daily Iltalehti said on Monday that Stockholm had “suggested the two countries indicate their willingness to join” on the same day, and that Helsinki had agreed “as long as the Swedish government has made its decision”

Guess Germans got sick of being criticized. They are delivering 50 Gepard mechanized anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine. The 100 Marder IFVs German arms company Rhinemetall wants to deliver to Ukraine is stalled out because a Swiss company that makes the ammo is refusing the transfer.

Quote:
Neutral Switzerland has held up German arms deliveries to Ukraine by blocking the re-export of Swiss-made ammunition used in Marder infantry fighting vehicles that Kyiv would like to get, Swiss paper SonntagsZeitung reported.

The news comes as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz faces growing criticism for his government's failure to deliver heavy weapons to Ukraine to help it fend off Russian attacks, even as other Western allies step up shipments. read more

The Marder, made by German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall (RHMG.DE), uses ammunition manufactured in Switzerland, the paper said. Switzerland restricts the re-export of such war materiel to conflict zones.

The paper quoted a spokesperson for the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) as saying it had received two inquiries from Germany about transferring to Ukraine munitions it had got from Switzerland.

"Both of Germany's requests were answered in the negative with reference to Swiss neutrality and the mandatory rejection criteria of the war material legislation," it quoted the spokesperson as saying.

SECO was not immediately available for comment on Sunday outside of regular business hours.

Seems like a stall tactic by Germany. They are offering tanks...but those tanks only take a certain type of ammunition and it's Switzerland's fault you can't get it.

This whole war has highlighted some of the bigger red flags in German/ European corruption. Why does Neutral Switzerland even produce ammunition if they specifically don't allow the provision of that ammunition to warzones? Is it just meant for training ammunition?

It's someone's money laundering/ funneling scheme laid bare IMO. Another interesting point is that they have put export controls (i.e. that yacht can't leave german waters) on a lot of Russian assets, but not actually seized them.

Russian men are going to have the stigma of rapists for generations. The crimes are too widespread to not be taken by outsiders as a cultural imperative, right or wrong. It's too bad that the Russian media is so insular, it's probably going to come as a surprise to Russian men how they are viewed when they travel elsewhere after this war.

It was a known fact, you even learn it in highschool history.

The Red Army, as they marched west, employed rape as a weapon and during the occupation of E Germany.

From Wikipedia
Quote:
The exact number of German women and girls raped by Soviet troops during the war and occupation is uncertain, but historians estimate their numbers are likely in the hundreds of thousands, and possibly as many as two million
It shocks no one they are doing it again, and frankly yes, Russian soldiers have a reputation.

Russia cuts off gas supply to Poland over Putin's insistence to only accept payment in rubles (to prop up it up) when the original contract price was written in Euros. Guessing Germany will be next to get cut off.

Russia's probably going to default sooner rather than later at this rate. They won't be able to keep paying their bills when a quarter of the budget just goes poof.

Quote:
Russia has halted gas deliveries to Poland, according to news website Onet.pl, the latest ratcheting up of tensions between Moscow and European capitals over crucial energy supplies.

European gas prices surged as much as 17% after the report, which cited government sources it didn’t name. Without confirming the report, the Polish government said it has enough gas in storage, and the gas system operator said it was ready for potential cuts.

Moscow and Europe are locked in a standoff over how gas should be paid for and President Vladimir Putin has threatened to halt supplies if his demands aren’t met. The Kremlin has said that gas must be bought in rubles but the European Union considers that would breach sanctions — and also strengthen Putin’s hand unacceptably.

Corruption isn’t the only or even most likely explanation. The great majority of the military hardware manufactured and sold in the last 50 years has never been used in war. If you’re selling armoured vehicles to the Netherlands or Thailand, it’s unlikely it will ever be used to kill anybody. Since WW2, military spending is largely a deterrent.

Germany has a strong pacifist culture, and the laws against selling military hardware to war zones have been in place for decades. There’s a reason for this aversion to militarism. I don’t know if you’re a history buff…

Poland, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Afghanistan, Georgia, Chechnya

Quote:
Western estimates of the traceable number of rape victims range from two hundred thousand to two million.[116] Following the Winter Offensive of 1945, mass rape by Soviet males occurred in all major cities taken by the Red Army. Women were gang raped by as many as several dozen soldiers during the liberation of Poland. In some cases victims who did not hide in the basements all day were raped up to 15 times.[75][117] According to historian Antony Beevor, following the Red Army's capture of Berlin in 1945, Soviet troops raped German women and girls as young as eight years old.[118]
Quote:
The Soviet forces abducted Afghan women in helicopters while flying in the country in search of mujahideen. In November 1980 a number of such incidents had taken place in various parts of the country, including Laghman and Kama. Soviet soldiers as well as KhAD agents kidnapped young women from the city of Kabul and the areas of Darul Aman and Khair Khana, near the Soviet garrisons, to rape them.[181] Women who were taken and raped by Russian soldiers were considered 'dishonoured' by their families if they returned home.[182] Deserters from the Soviet Army in 1984 also confirmed the atrocities by the Soviet troops on Afghan women and children, stating that Afghan women were being raped.[183] The rape of Afghan women by Soviet troops was common and 11.8 percent of the Soviet war criminals in Afghanistan were convicted for the offence of rape.
Russia's culture is defined by rape.

This is the first war in my memory that is being played out in real time over social media, to Western audiences. Ukrainians have full access to all social media at the same rate as we do. It's not that the Russian military has not always used rape as a weapon, it's that they are having it presented with pride to the world on a daily basis, which is going to be impossible to get away from.

Not everyone would have read a story in the Post or Times about Afghanistan or Georgia, but everyone would have heard or seen these atrocities on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit or other media. Technology has progressed to the point where this will be a legacy that can't be escaped.

A gutsy diplomatic move would be to ban Russian men from immigrating but allow Russian women refugee status based on an entrenched culture of rape.

To be clear, I know that generally speaking the majority of Russians would be as disgusted by the actions of their military as any of us are, but it looks like a sledgehammer is needed to get the idea through that there needs to be zero tolerance of this behavior, and we all know that the soldiers will not be punished upon returning home.
