I got footage of telling my Flames fan friend waking up from an off-season coma that Mangiapane has 35 goals. But Gaudreau is actually ahead of him and vying for his fortieth. And Gaudreau isn't leading the team in goal scoring. He isn't second either. Tkachuk has over 100 points. But Gaudreau still leads the team by 10 points:

The top line now has 292 points (111, 101, 80)...

Who was the last line to record 300 points?

(And I really want to see them do it.)

That'd be cool, but I hope the top line gets a game off before season end

2018-19 Lightning did, but they were not all on the same line

5 teams in NHL history have had 4 40 goal scorers. The Oilers four times (82 through 86) and the 87-88 Flames (these are also 5 of the 7 highest scoring teams of all time- the others being the 81-82 Oilers (only 2 40 goals scorers but Gretzky had 92 on his own and Anderson had 38) and 70-71 Bruins (3 40 goal scorers including Espo with 76, and then a defenceman named Orr with 37))

currently 18 more teams have had 3 40 goal scorers- as pointed out the most recent was the 18-19 Lightning and the only others in the last 28 years are the 95-96 pens and the 93-94 Flames (and Nieuwendyk had 36 that year- so if Gaudreau hits 40 that team will be quite a bit like this one: Roberts 41, Fleury 40, Reichel 40, Nieuwy 36; MacInnis also blasted 28 from the blueline though)

Well, Josi probably isn't going to hit 100, but he did break 90.

Only 8 other defenseman have ever done so, so still a very small list.
Paul Coffey (7 times)
Bobby Orr (6 times)
Ray Bourque (4 times).
Denis Potvin (3 times)
Al Macinnis (2 times)
Phil Housley
Gary Suter,
Brian Leetch.

That's good company.

(Makar needs 5 points in 4 games to join Josi, which is possible.)

I looked up what the highest scoring seasons by US born players was and Johnny right now is tied for the 3rd highest with Kevin Stevens:

1. 1992-93 Pat LaFontaine (148)
2. 1991-92 Kevin Stevens (123)
3. 1992-93 Kevin Stevens (111)
4. 2021-22 Johnny Gaudreau (111)

I just realized that Patrick Kane's highest ever point total was 110 in 2018/19 so Johnny has now surpassed that.

And Kane is still putting up elite numbers at 33 years old. 91 points this year so far.

I really wouldn't worried about Johnny's long term performance.

On the team milestone front, one more win to 50.

Team Records, goal scorers:

40s
4x - Only two teams in NHL history have ever had four 40-goal scorers in a single season. Edmonton did it four times (82-86); Calgary did it once (87-88).
3x - Only twelve teams in NHL history have ever had 3 40-goal scorers in a single season. LA did it four times (80-81, 84-85, 88-89, 90-91); Pittsburgh did it three times (91-93, 94-95); Calgary has done it once (93-94). If Gaudreau gets one more goal, Calgary would join Buffalo and Chicago as the only teams to have done it twice - and be the only team to have done it in the last 27 years.

30s
4x - Only Calgary and Florida have four 30-goal scorers this season. The last team to do this was San Jose (18-19); prior to that, the last teams to do it were Detroit and Philadelphia (08-09).

Stretch drive
- Aside from needing one more goal from Gaudreau, if Mangiapane can get five more in the next three games, it would be Calgary's second time with four 40-goal scorers - continuing their standing of being one of only two teams to have ever done it, and it would be the first time in 34 years.

Time for Mangiapane to get busy eating bread.

Too bad he had that 2-3 week lull otherwise he would be there with the other guys, no question.

Now he’s 3rd with his two assists tonight

Not a milestone, but something I just realized... Johnny almost has as many assists (74) as Lindholm has points (81). How crazy is that.
