Sometimes these metric models need to be revisited to tune them to agree with reality

Reality is 80 points (somehow 95 % by the model’s offense ‘metric’) and +58 vs 56 points (clearly 97% offense ‘metric’) and +18

I’m not sure which metric in the model most closely corresponds to +/- but in the real world, games are won by scoring more goals than you allow

Edit: well, I see the ‘denials’ metric favours Bergeron over Lindy lol

But clearly on offense Bergeron is a 95 on PP vs. Lindys 66 which surely makes up for the difference in the rest of the stats.

Aka: these metrics are nonsense

since when are advanced stats used for awards?

actual NHL stats of goals, assists, plus minus, is what has been used in the past

Lol I didn't last very long, looks like Bergeron's the#1 in a lot of these categories

As much as we love Lindholm he's definitely more of a mid 90s percentile than a 99th and the stats infographic does indeed reflect this.

The voters seem to use whatever they want, and it changes constantly.

One more remark…

Lindholm is 24th in the league in scoring and second in +/-

And he is 46/100 in ‘playdriving’ score

Lol. Is that because of the goal / assist ratio?

To the metrics man: that’s not good. Check your model, son

Edit: was writing that as several posters noted the same nonsense. Glad we are on the same page

Yeah, these charts tend to look odd and reinforce inherent biases to me.

Just look at all the defensive charts showing that Gudbranson and Zadorov were below replacement level garbage or whatever.

49 wins and 108 points are both high points for a Darryl Sutter coached team.

So many good friends on this team.
This is a really good point. We've had really good luck with bringing in the RIGHT people since Treliving brought in Smith, Neal and any other cancers we've had I can't remember.

All linked, Swedish, related, former junior team mates , linemates .....man it's worked well to establish good chemistry amongst our roster.

That and having the best damn coaching staff in da league yo!!!

Good on and congrats to Elias Lindholm on getting his 40th goal of the season.

Good win. Flames are rolling!

Edmonton winner in 2020 went home with over 7 mil. This season they had a winner over 2.8 mil.

What's with the Edmonton fans complaining the Flames are lucky? Is this their collective delusion for why the Flames are having a better season?

Generally good teams get "lucky" more than bad teams as they put themselves in the position for good things to happen more often than bad teams.

What really is based purely on luck is winning FOUR draft lotteries. That and making the playoffs as a five seed by points and getting to play the 8th team by points in round one because of a dumb divisional system.
