Nice maximize/minimize assessment of the situation. No one is saying that except you.
He’s a product of the crony groupthink that enables disgusting behaviour in hockey.
Even my 5 year old can figure out that you need to directly apologize to someone when you hurt them.

Like I said. The guy paid his dues. Would you be happier if he just died?

We really don't know what he's done, I think that's his point.
I'm quick to say IF he's been investigated to see the extent of whatever issues he has, acknowledges them, has sought help to rectify them ... then he deserves a second chance like anyone.
He's suffered career wise for sure. Anyone that goes from a starting coach in the NHL to the AJHL has clearly been impacted by his mistakes.
But he could be telling all his buddies that this is a joke, and a world full of snow flakes need their pound of flesh for all we know.

That’s the thing, all this does is prove how important having a good PR person is.
No one knows what lessons Peters has learned or what he’s like as a man but apparently him undergoing racial sensitivity training and giving a “heartfelt” apology would be enough for many.
But that doesn’t prove a thing about his character except he’s willing to play the PR game. Real personal growth is just that, personal.

The Akim Aliu situation happened over a decade ago. Times change and people change. I'm sure if he hasn't changed he won't be coaching for very long.

Grande Prairie: Red Deer, but far enough away that you're OK with it.

I'm sorry, please pardon my ignorance. When you say he paid his dues, what do you mean by that? Usually, when I hear someone say "he paid his dues", it means he served times, or acknowledged and apologized for what he did. In my mind, quitting your job isn't paying your dues.

He lost millions of dollars. Had his reputation ruined and life turned upside down.
Like I said before. Should he commit hari kari?

How he lost millions of dollars? You cannot lose something you do not have! BTW, who ruined his reputation? Peters may have learned his lesson and that's a big "may", and if you think he deserve a second chance, fine, say that, but please don't say he paid his dues. If you ask me if I want him dead, the answer is no.
Ask Akim, how his life been turned upside down.

How was his reputation ruined? He said a racist epithet and abused players and that was made public. I don’t think anyone outside of Bill Peters ruined his reputation.

From what I've heard from someone relatively close to the situation, the wheels were very much in motion for Peters to join GP ... and then a governing body with jurisdiction over the matter stepped in to prevent him from being considered. Not sure if it was Hockey Canada or some other entity.

Yes, regardless Peters can probably afford to make it due to career earnings.
As an aside, his son also plays for the team.

The leading candidate to replace Brent Kisio as head coach of the WHL's Lethbridge Hurricanes is Bill Peters.
