What Nosehill does need is some public shamers for anyone that just leaves their dog poop bags behind. If a poop bag goes from you hand to anything other than a bin, people start yelling “shame!” and follow you around until you atone.

I’d disagree. Summer, Fall, Winter are all great. Early Spring everything looks like garbage.

My wife and I have been casually looking at buying a bigger home the last few months. One of our main criteria is being close to parks. Had our realtor suggest homes in the NW because they're close to Nosehill and we just LOLed and told the realtor that by close to parks, we meant close to nice parks like fish creek.

Needless to say, we're only looking at the south now. Nosehill is terrible.

I wish they would just plant like 20,000 trees in the place. Coyotes like shade too.

Free labor if you can make it some sort of school field-trip program.

I've always thought on the SE corner by the Winter Club they should built an interpretative center kind of most of the way up. It has incredible views of downtown, you could have a balcony, cafe, etc. It would be great to stop for a beer after a bike ride. Have proper little interpretive loop trails sticking to that corner with viewing platforms, bird watching etc.

They don't need to re-make the entire hill, but there is a lot to appreciate up there(despite what Sliver says) and that corner is a great showcase.

That's, like, literally an example of the type of development I'd like to see, too. I mean, growing up in the NW I remember taking field trips to Fish Creek to learn about the flora and fauna there. Never once did any school I ever went to take us to Nose Hill to explain why it's so special. Can you imagine a school bus with 60 kids parking there? WTF would they even do? I just picture them slapping mosquitoes off the back of their neck, stepping in dog #### and picking thistle bits out of their socks.

If Nose Hill is in such need of protection and there is such militant opposition to improving it, I really think a case should be made as to why that's worthwhile. Why can't I tell the difference between Nose Hill and abandoned lots around town? It goes back to points we've been over before...if your neighbour's property was kept looking like Nose Hill, you'd be on the phone with 311 daily. It's an eyesore by any measure.

In fact, if I lived in Brentwood or Charleswood or whatever the fata that neighbourhood is that looks at it across John Laurie, I think I would call in about an abandoned lot not being properly maintained. Who wants to sit in their backyard and have a giant tumbleweed whip into their face?

No bugs up there, too windy and only one watering hole.

I'd be up for banning dogs and turning it into a full on bike park. Have a paved lap for road bikes, and there are endless opportunities for flowy trials around the perimeter, with suffering climbs and surprisingly steep downhills.

Just please, please stop making those gravel trials that are miserable to ascend and descend, and wash away at the first whisper of rain. If they insist on doing it, they need to use the type of material Canmore uses on their trails, it holds up way better. I know one that the river floods every few years(completely submerges) and yet it never washes away or needs repairs.

Haha, as I was reading this thread I was thinking back to a school field trip we did to Nose Hill. Let's be honest though...school field trips aren't a great gauge of what's cool/fun. Heritage Park? Ann and Sandy Cross conservation area?

Well that's a stupid idea. I pay taxes, dogs don't. I don't take a crap wherever I feel like it, and leave it lying around. I don't chase people and wildlife because my owner can't figure out what a on leash area means. Besides that, exercise and outdoor activities are healthy and should be encouraged to save tax dollars. Walking a dog can happen anywhere.
