Add Something to the Time Capsule
Imagine this:
You have been asked by a non-profit group to donate any item you can possibly imagine (no size restrictions - big or small) to be included into a time capsule that is going to be opened in 2107.
What would you like to remind society of when they open it in 100 years from today?
Post your item in the thread below!
PS - I asked a couple of my friends this the other day, and the best item on the list ended up being "A fart in a jar that is labelled fresh air". Now, while that is funny, I think CP can do better.

A micro SD card with a note attached that we are in awe of how small we can make a 2GB storage device.

I'd probably say a book or maybe a journal or a piece of art or something like that. It's only 100 years, but with technology advancing exponentionally like it is, I can see literature, as we know it today, being thrown by the way side in favor of some other form.

Nice choice. I might put a Wiimote in, and in your thining, attach a note saying how marvelled we are that we can play video games with motion control.

Maybe a list of all species alive today, along with images of them, documentation of their habitat, biology, behaviour, role in their ecosystems and DNA samples.

a HDD backup of CP, so they can see what issues matter (and don't) to us. They'd also get to see how awesome the flames are

I know you said this tongue in cheek, but that was one thing I was thinking of; we really couldn't give any type of "software"; ie database backups, CDs, DVDs, etc.
In the 30ish years that we've been using the personal computer; imagine opening a time capsule from 1977. Who still has an 8" floppy? Or even a 5.25" floppy? Or a time capsule from 40 years ago, and somebody includes a series of punch cards.
It would be incredible to see what they are using for computers in 100 years; never mind how ancient our storage devices would be to them.

As it turns out, something of mine is in the Okotoks bi-centennial time capsule sealed last year . . . . . photo's from around the community but also a few pictures of my dogs and directions to the website my dogs have, a bit of an accident insisted upon by the project manager, not myself . . . . so now I have to figure out how much money I have to set aside in my will to keep the site open in purpetuity . . . . or at least for 100 years.
Other than that, a fart in a jar sounds pretty good.
Actually, in all seriousness, I think you'll see a growing trend for people to leave the story of their lives on-line in perpetuity, via family websites.

When my dad graduated from some sort of roofing school in the 70s, they gave him a picture of the Athabasca glacier. They have time markers that they put at the edge of the thing every year... it's amazing to see how much it's melted since then.
