This makes things more interesting for the 3rd divisional spot. Kings are two points up on Vegas and the VGK have a game in hand. Both play tomorrow - LA at CHI and VGK at VAN.
The Hawks have lost 7 in a row. Their last win was against... LA.

Vegas = scary. Rooting for LA, and even Edmonton, to keep their playoff spots.

Id be surprised if LA can hang on to a playoff spot. I hope, but don’t think it will happen.

They’ll get murdered by the coilers.
If Vegas makes it in and everyone becomes magically healthy that’s way better.
No goods will lose.

Ideally VGK passes LA and obliterates the Oil in the first round.

And the Oilers score enough to get their goalies way off their game.

Even when Vegas is healthy, I still like the flames in a 7 game series. Cheering for Vegas to get in and sweep the oilers. Then we catch them in round 2 after they’ve been off for a while

It's pretty simple, nobody wants the Oilers to be rewarded with a free pass in round one for being worse than the Flames all year.

If the Flames can't beat Vegas they don't deserve to make the conference finals anyway.
Screw the Oilers. They shouldn't even be in the playoff picture.

I have as much contempt for the Oilers and their fanbase as probably anyone. But I will never let my hatred supercede my Flames fandom. And there is no question that a healthy Vegas is more of a threat to a deep Flames playoff run than the Oilers are. If the Flames have a better chance to make it the WCF with the Oil in round 1 versus the Kings, which I think they do, that's what I am rooting for.
How good would everyone feel if Vegas made it in, dummies Edmonton or LA with a 100 million roster, then takes out the Flames? I would be distraught. Especially when the alternative is a much easier round 2 match up in either LA or Edmonton.
Obviously no right answer, just IMO.

It’s not about that.
It’s about the fact we hate Vegas and never want them to succeed.
I know it’s the same for the Oilers but for some reason I just can’t stand Vegas whereas the Oilers is like hate but with some semblance of mutual respect.
All Vegas has known is success and it pisses me off.
Not to mention a Flames vs Oilers 2nd round would be epic.

I don't want Vegas to succeed but under no circumstances would I ever hope for the Oilers to win a round.
Vegas can embarrass the Oilers and then karma pay them a visit in the second round.

Just about any playoffs result is palatable as long as the Oilers are humiliated. The freaking Leafs could win a cup and the Oilers getting swept would be a welcome consolation.

Lol eff this mutual respect thing. For me, the only choice is for the Oilers to fail as much and as badly as possible. Them making the playoffs and then x, y, z outcome? No matter what x, y, z are Oilers missing the playoffs altogether is better. Oilers losing in game 7 of the finals in an own goal? Them missing the playoffs altogether and being irrelevant is better.

Edmonton gets swept by LA round 1. Then we sweep LA round 2. Another double-sweep for the Oil. Amazing. Flames get a great path to WCF, and Vegas misses altogether and has to deal with cap hell offseason.
But we could hope that Vegas brings a 100 million roster to the playoffs and toasts the Flames and the Pacific cause LOL Oilers or something.
