That's actually a perfect size for a bedroom IMO. Depending on how it's situated in your room I guess but we have a 52" in our bedroom and feels like a good fit to us.

I'm too cheap to buy an 85"
I don't want to throw away $1600 on something subpar and won't spend up, I don't think.

I think I'm going with the Hisense 75UG6
It rates out pretty good and $800 (US) fits my budget just tight.
Sigh.

Anyone have any thoughts on this TV/price?
https://www.thebay.com/product/samsu...cc_color=BLACK
Worried about the angle, but really like the idea of having a flat TV flush to the wall to double as a picture frame when not in use.

My neighbor has one and it looks awesome. I think that's a good price, but don't take my word for it. They may have marked up the MSRP just to make the sale look better.

That price is $200 less than Best Buy and Amazon have it listed for, so no problems there.
However, I might consider the LG A1 OLED for the same money:
LG A1 OLED - Best Buy $1,799 - RTINGS Review
Samsung The Frame 2021 - RTINGS Review
Depends what features are important to you; the Samsung has gaming features (VRR, 120hz) and will do much better in a brighter space than the LG. If it is that 'Picture Frame' functionality you are looking for, where you can leave a stationary image for extended periods of time, then the Samsung is the winner by default.

I was kind of blown away by the price, so it seems like it's worth it.

And the picture frame functionality is important to me...in addition I have a very bright space so based off of the reviews that seemed to stand out to me as well.

Appreciate the thoughts from you guys!

I have that TV (50inch) for the living room purchased a year ago. I really like it as we rarely use that TV (main TV is in the basement) so it works really well with how it looks in the space when not in use. Very discreet and am a big fan of the double duty of being a painting and a TV. Really happy with the purchase. Looks like a good price I paid $1500 for the 50” last year

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear feedback wise.

We're so used to having a TV in the living area but I like the discreet-ness and using it less often and being able to do double duty as you said.

I pulled the trigger on it and got a bezel frame to go with it, should be here by next week...getting excited.

Finally after having placed the order in February, my 85” Samsung QN85A arrived (uses a VA panel like the flagship QN90A). I got it set up this evening, have yet to run through calibration with my colorimeter, so I am using it essentially in an out-of-the-box state. I didn’t even let it update the firmware yet.

So far, I am blown away by this thing. Amazing TV.

Update - it fit and works great!

I should have prefaced it potentially being too big for the wall not the room.

I particularly don't enjoy the "smartness" of new tvs.

It has a weird Wii-like remote and is alexa compatible for some weird reason.

other than that. good tv and glad i bought it

It can be good, if executed properly. I think if I had to do it all over again, I'd just worry about finding a TV with solid hardware and then get an external extender like Nvidia Shield.

The O/S in smart TV's is hit/miss. When it works well, it's great but man it can be flakey.

I do enjoy the quick hit buttons for the various streamign services, and i believe i can set up my own.

One of the reasons we decided to get a new tv was because my 10 year old roku finally crapped out (second being my 15 year old tv was starting to as well).

It just seems like some of the options are "bloatware". I actually connected the TV to Alexa, but i have never used it. More data for amazon i suppose

^Fire TV deal is dead on the 43", price is still $469 at check-out now. But the 50" is $429 and the 55" is $459, making both a decent deal. For the same money though, I would go with the TCL 4 Series (S446). RTINGS has it edging out the Fire TV and it has Google TV.

I'm looking at this Sony OLED on sale at Costco for $400 off. https://www.costco.ca/sony-55%22-4k-...100763948.html
This would be replacing a 50" Panasonic plasma, wall mounted in a small family room. We also have a projector and 108" screen downstairs with all the surround sound etc.

Any pros and cons to this set? Given that the plasma is 13+ years old, I don't buy TVs very often so I don't mind the price. Just want to make sure I am getting decent quality and I know Sony has been good in the past.

Other than the typical OLED precautions, which apply to plasma as well, this is a great TV, especially at that price.

I recently bought the same TV, it's spectacular and high-quality 4K HDR material is jaw-dropping. The nice thing is that even if you don't have a 4K Blu-ray player, there's a Bravia Core streaming app built-in that provides 5 credits to buy Sony studio movies; the ones that are rated at 4K IMAX DTS are the highest quality streaming video available.

Coming from an older plasma, an modern OLED TV will still seem bright and some of the HDR highlights can be blinding. My only regret is not getting the 65".

Seeing the recent price drops on OLED's is very tempting, but I think I'm going to hold off until the new Micro LED units start becoming available. Should combine the best of both worlds of LED/OLED, hopefully the prices for the initial generation aren't too crazy
