Not as much yanking and banking. a top gun movie using an F-22, of F-35 of SU-57 would be pretty boring. Basically you'd have Tom Cruise doing computery stuff and staring at his shared sensor display and launching an over the horizon death shot to the face. Or sneaking up on a enemy and stabbing him in the back.
I read an interview by an F-35 pilot, that he basically stated that if you're in an F-35 and you get into knife fighting range on an enemy, you suck as an F-35 pilot.
As for Top Gun, I don't really like Tom Cruise, after reading about how he treats people in Scientology (He basically has slaves waiting on him hand and foot) and how badly he's treated woman around him, its tough to want to give any more money to him and his "Cause".
I'll wait for it to come out on a digital platform.

While I agree with Cap, and it makes me a hypocrite with how critical I am of Disney and their 'woke' but pander to China approach to film making.. I just can't say not to Top Gun.

Its funny, because Maverick is referred to as a Captain, and been in the Navy for 30 years I think they mentioned.
First of all, his career probably stalled at flag ranks and he would have been retired due to extended time in Rank.
Second I was reading a book on naval aviation, and from what I understand, you're likely to only see a max of 4 6 months tours in a Carrier air wing, sure there might be a year between 6 month deployments, but there's not a chance that he was still an active aviator at that point in his career. For an Aviator by the time you get to the Captain's rank, you'd better have served as a commander of a fleet tender, or even an XO on a carrier, or you're on pentagon duty.

Nah, Maverick was born to fly. He ain't gonna be happy unless he's going mach 2 with his hair on fire. Didn't you see the first movie?

I think that the sequel should have featured Maverick flying rubber dog shyte out of a Hong Kong on a cargo plane. Yup two hours of Maverick screaming at his co pilot. Dave "Stinker" McCoy to stop farting.

I sure hope so...Canada just committed to buying a crapload of jet fighters.
I think what he meant was dogfighting, with the new fighters that's pretty much a thing of the past, unless some dummy wants to fight something he can't see.
Trevorrow couldn't just rest with s###ing on the dinos, he had to s### on all the original cast too before his work was done.
Looks like a terrible Jurrasic Park film, but it looks like a fun JP fan fiction with a 200M dollar budget.
Fallen Kingdom put the franchise beyond saving, so at this point you just throw your arms up and roll with it. I guess at least we're getting dinos in modern movies, even if they look animated and bad.
Nothing will ever beat animatronics and practical effects, and the simplicity of a suspenseful dark hallway or jungle scene.

I revisited the original film recently, and it's amazing how well that movie holds up. The practical animatronic Dinos still look better and more realistic than any modern CGI, which to me has gotten more cartoonish looking over the years.

I can't stand the World iteration of the raptors. They look cartoonish as you said, the movements don't look at all natural and the audio doesn't seem to match up with their mouths even.
It's like watching a 00s era TLC show on prehistoric creatures.
They managed to make Rex look passable at least.

I'm not sure if there is a movie that has aged as well as the original JP.
Especially considering the technological leap it took at the time.

You probably meant this but I would add "an effects heavy" movie. There are many older movies that didn't rely on special effects that have aged very well.

Original JP is just a masterclass is filmmaking. Spielberg at the height of his powers paired with John Williams' incredible score.
So many genius and incredibly simple effects offering the viewer a much more immersive and suspenseful experience. To make a simple plastic cup of water rippling under the immense shockwave of the T Rex making its way towards us, as the viewer we share that feeling of fear and wonder of the magnitude of what's in store for the characters. It's awesome. The respect the main characters give to the Raptors and the T Rex, and the dinosaurs in general is largely missing from the future films. All Chris Pratt has to do to stop the Raptors from attacking is just extend his arms towards them or maybe make a click sound. Sure!

What JP really did well was worth around the limitations of effects when designing their scenes. They would say we have an effect that can do X, what do we do with that? Whereas most modern movies, including the JP sequels, come up with ideas first and see if they can make the effects do them.
