Leave it to Francis try to cherry-pick the most negative thing he can after the Flames swept the California road trip for the first time in their history.

Boy the Tank looks as empty as it has all season. Maybe these small crowds will help in the GM search
Quote:
It’s kind of sad that Randy is so excited that we generated chances on two straight shifts.

Does it seem like all the energy from both the team and the crowd have left the building?

What the ####ing #### was that boys? Awful turnover
Quote:
Its entertaining that I don't know which turnover you were talking about.
Quote:
The one by Meier that lead directly to the Flames goal.
Quote:
I feel like tkachuck walked right in so easily.. vlasic could have put more effort in imo
Quote:
It was a perfectly executed drop pass to an attacking player already at speed.
Quote:
Right on the tape...sheesh
Quote:
We're doing a good job nursing this one goal deficit.
Lewis beats EK65 and Reimer
Quote:
How many giveaways by Karlsson this game so far? Anyone counting?
Quote:
Nice play by Lewis at both ends.
Quote:
This ####ing tool is getting paid $11.5 million a year to get walked every night.
Quote:
Reimer was up in arms about the goal, but I couldn't see why. Did he think it was GI?
Quote:
Probably that his pad was pushed, could make a case but they didn't review so down by 1 it is
Quote:
He was probably pointing out to the official “can you believe this guy makes $11.5 million per year?!”
Quote:
I'm pretty sure Reimer came off the post before the contact. I think it's funny that he started arguing it anyway.
Quote:
We pay EK65 so much money to charge the net and pass it behind a teammate at the last second 67 times a year.
Quote:
This is exactly why I came to this thread lmao. I really wish I could see what Reimer was complaining about. Unfortunately looked as good as a goal gets
Quote:
Between Megna's bad turnover, MEgna's nice pass and Karl's willingness to let a guy just blow around him like that, it seems as if the Sharks defense is making up for everything Merk can't bring tonight.
Quote:
Karlsson needs to be more aggressive, but that was a poor goal from Reimer.
Quote:
Lewis wasn’t even looking at the puck. He literally just dragged the stick and it went in. That’s brutal.
Death, Taxes and Elias scoring clutch goals
Quote:
Welp, that was better than giving one up with .3 seconds left in the first.
Quote:
####ing what.
Quote:
This team is garbage, unlucky, AND ####ed over by the refs/league discipline. Just no breaks anywhere
Quote:
That's another stoppable shot. He wasn't screened really.
Quote:
I swear, Karlsson has been playing like crap. First, he let's Calgary's player get to the puck on the boards ( because he just stopped skating), then he falls on his face because he's nowhere near the net when he realizes a Calgary player is. Plays like that, from vets, is just inexcusable.
Quote:
Calgary's top lines stretch the zone out so well. Especially effective against the Sharks collapsing strategy
Quote:
Calgary is a fun team to watch. a 7 game series between them and the Wild would be a lot of fun.
Quote:
Sharks trailing the Flames 3-1? Got’em right where they want’em.
Mamma Mia!
Quote:
Man, what the heck happened to Mario? He was looking like a bonafide top pairing defenseman in his 22 year old season.
Quote:
He’s been forced to play all of the minutes and has convinced himself hes a Brent Burns clone
Quote:
Burns took him under his wing. He said "Mario, you put too much effort in the defensive side of the game. Do what I do - make one attempt, and then glide. It's ok, Bob and Hedi like you so they won't point this out to anyone"
For real, Mario's awareness this season has been bad. He is getting caught in no man's land multiple times per game.

Flames fans, you would know better than anyone else: How do I cope with this team being stuck in a state of perpetual mediocrity for the next 5-10 years? Alcohol? Pure apathy? What’s your secret?

which one's the ####ty tkachuk?
Quote:
Meh. Not mad. They put up a fight. Calgary is just a real good team.
Quote:
That empty net play was laughable.
Quote:
Very trash play, much Sharks
Quote:
Loved that part where the puck squeaked by 4 sharks in the offensive zone. Boys really wanna be here tn
Quote:
Flames played last night but the sharks are the ones who look like they’re on the back half of a back-to-back.
Quote:
Karlsson is just a sad joke at this point.
Quote:
4 Sharks vs one Flame and they still score. Literally sums up this season

How many more years is that Karlsson contract?
*Edit
Yikes, 5 more years at 11.5 after this year, with a NMC the entire way. Is there a worse contract?
Can't even trade him to Arizona with a 1st and a few prospects to dump the salary.

You don't watch any Sharks games and just focus and take joy on how utterly crap your enemies are. So in your case it would be the Ducks. We have the Oilers and Canucks.

Gudbranson really solidifies that 3rd pairing doesn’t he? He’s become a fantastic #5 for this team. I remember when both stone and Gudbranson were signed around the same time this summer, I wouldn’t have predicted this outcome, certainly wouldn’t have though I’d want him re-signed.
Stone will be good depth if needed in there playoffs, and he has a nice shot, but man Gudbranson is missed when he isn’t in the lineup.

Asked about the lineup shuffle I think I heard Darryl say something along the lines of (paraphrasing) “I don’t appreciate being asked that kind of question this time of year, we don’t want to give away any information to the teams we might face in the playoffs”.
Happy with the win but I feel a bit concerned about the team all of a sudden. They’ve faced a ton of adversity already what with the ridiculous travel before December, the whole team getting wiped out by covid around Christmas, and then the crazy condensed schedule they faced in March having to make up all of those lost games. Despite all of that they’ve been consistently good and really healthy too - how many games in a row did they just roll out the same 6 defencemen and not even have to think about it. But all of a sudden Monahan is done, Lucic is fading fast, Jarnkrok is out, Kylington is out, now all of a sudden Gudbranson and Zadorov are scratched…this is not the time of year to start breaking down. I just wonder if “everything”, including the demands of Sutter, is starting to show its weight.

The roster rotations are going to allow us to be healthy for the start of May. Long season, right moves to make now to be ready later.
In past playoffs we were playing with broken players that we had to lean on because we didn't have the depth nor points cushion to afford to sit them. We're just exercising the luxury our GM afforded us this season.
Not too concerned with that. Sure, they didn't dominate their road trip, but in the end they swept California still with a number of guys snake bitten. A bit of adversity right now is way preferable to later. As long as we're ramping up in the back half of April.

So well said and could not agree more. There are a lot of well informed hockey fans on this site that I honestly take my own cues from who were disgusted at Gudbranson’s signing - and for good reason too. Then he got off to a brutal start in the pre-season and lots of people were ready for a basement dwelling season followed by a blowup rebuild. Not all because of Gudbranson obviously but he seemed to be a microcosm of the criticism. He’s proven a lot of people wrong and I think most folks that were dead set against his signing have been happy to admit that. It’s strange to say of a 5/6 d-man but he just feels to me like an absolutely integral part of this team’s fabric.
