I sense a low scoring 1 goal game then an empty netter by Backlund

What happened to the Ducks? Were they just an early season mirage based on kids playing over their heads? Did they get hit by injuries? Bit of both?

Gibson also has been bad.
.888 Save Percentage over the Ducks last 30 games, -5.76 GSAA
So he will probably stand on his head tonight.

We need to see much more secondary scoring. They've been missing from the score sheet for too long, and it's the top-line offense that has been carrying us.
Some timely depth scoring would have resulted in more wins over the last 4 games where we are 1-2-1.
If the middle-6/bottom-9 forwards don't wake up soon, I think we're headed towards another first round exit. Teams can't go far in the playoffs without depth scoring, because we know that all playoff opponents will be focused on a team's top line. The depth scoring is where the perennial "unsung playoff hero" comes from.

Play a physical game and the ducks will fold. They've got a lot of talent, but they're not going to be able to compete with a heavy forecheck and a physical game.

Sutter once facetiously called Gibson the best goalie he'd ever seen (green text)
We got this....win in regulation....Johnny's hockey clinics are gaining in popularity .

I hate the stupid Ducks with their stupid name and stupid logo and stupid Honda Centre with its stupid foghorn.
Go flams.

Can't wait for Sportsnet to go on and on about the Flames record at the Honda center over the last 20 years like it's somehow relevant to current players on both sides.

I will always be skeptical going into the Honda center. But I think we’ll pull out the W this game

If he does, send out Zadorov, Lucic & Gudbranson (and that goon Gaudreau) to beat the ever loving #### out of the kid because apparently that is the way.
Sarcasm, by the way.

Glad they're 1-0-0 to start.

If winning the division is the ultimate goal here, then yes, beating this team tonight, and really, the other 2 remaining teams on this trip, should be a pre-requisite without a doubt.
The Flames are quite simply way better than each of the next 3 teams they will face and should win each of theses games. It's a high bar, but that's the nature of the beast when you're having the season they're having. If it ends up being 5/6 or 4/6 points wise, fair enough. But it certainly matters where the wins come from at this point in the year and you don't want to be dropping games against inferior opponents very often with a very heavy schedule the rest of the way.

Draft Pick

Big game tonight, always a tough game regardless of how the Ducks are performing. Good chance to get down and gritty and polish off some of the rough areas of the game where the team has been struggling. Big strech of games coming against some weaker teams so also a good chance for the depth guys to get some confidence for the playoffs.
One game at a time from here on out
