I was speaking about current attitudes. But yes, those are far from perfect. When compared to what goes on in Europe, night and day difference though.

Canada takes in about 300k immigrants per year. We currently have a massive housing shortage. We have all sorts of red tape around new construction builds and increased housing density. A topic for another thread.

The irony is that Canada largely became diverse because of racist policies. First, there was colonialism and the initial importing of immigrants from non-white countries for cheap indentured or slave labour. Nowadays, there is also a feeling of responsibility to post-colonial countries to facilitate immigration, but again, it is almost always for cheap labour or to pluck their most talented individuals for the benefit of the host country. Immigration is almost never altruistic.

Eastern European countries, for the most part, were not colonial powers who drained wealth from non-white regions of the world (expect for Russia I guess). This is one of the main reasons these areas are not as racially diverse. You also never had the subsequent civil right movements or white guilt that post-colonial nations have. Eastern Europeans are also used to historically being one of the cheap labour options for wealthier countries and not an area people flock to immigrate to, so again, less diverse. Almost none of the migrants trying to get through Poland or Hungary wanted to stay there, nor were they people literally running for their lives at that moment like people in Ukraine are.

First SU-35 was confirmed destroyed today in Ukraine. Not a lot of details available, but it's another small landmark.

Lots of details here (and it was yesterday)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...shot-down.html

Presumed to be another Starstreak win. Russians have literally no answer against it and they are in Ukrainian front lines as of a few days ago (see the Mi-28 loss)

Expect more fireworks.

MOD updates for the day. Both MOD and Wiki show Russian withdraw is complete N/NW of Kyiv now with Ukrainian forces pushing Russians Western MD Grouping and the roads they control eastward. No changes in the Donetsk, Kherson, or Mariupol areas tho. Russia's Sumy pull back continues.

With the mounting evidence of war crimes, surely the international community steps up with even harsher sanctions now. It's not lost on me the invasion itself is a crime and the initial round of sanctions was because of that.

Russia needs to be squeezed and then cut-off. I feel for people like Pointman, but it's apparent many ordinary Russians inside and outside of Russia support this madness. Short of utter destruction, sanctions are the only thing we can employ.

#### the Russian regime so hard. I would gleefully kill Putin myself if I had the chance.

Zelenskyy appeared before the UN security council today, and besides the pleas for help and war crimes investigation, basically ended by stating that he wondered what the point was of bodies like the Security Council etc who are content to basically sit on the sidelines.

He's doing his job trying to get help from wherever he can.

But thats just posturing. He knows damn well why they're content to sit on the sidelines, because if they dont its World War 3.

Russia is a permanent member of the security council and has been vetoing any measures that are being pushed at the UN. Its not that UN is content on the sidelines. A motion to expel Russia from the security council could get motioned in the general assembly and could happen.

I think it's safe to say that one P5 is definitely not sitting on the sidelines.

Keeping his emotions in check has to be hard. Let's remember he's personally witnessed the mass execution sites and the insane destruction of Ukrainian cities.

Politicians are human too.

There were some photos posted yesterday of Russian communications equipment that used a rotary telephone and computer that used punch cards. It seemed really old and archaic, but I was wondering if low-tech stuff like that is actually useful or more reliable in tough field conditions. Or am I giving them too much credit?

So realistically how much longer can Russia keep this up? Their casualties are in the 10's of thousands and their equipment losses must be in the hundreds of millions, are they in danger of running out of equipment or soldiers with actual training anytime soon?

No, not really, I do expect Russian's to rush half trained conscripts into the field though. Equipment wise, the Russians have a lot, we've seen that their rolling stock is mostly older stuff on the ground. They have warehouses full of tanks and artillery.

Rumors that their storage is in pretty rough shape and probably picked clean by corruption.
