I think you're missing the point.

How many high sticks on Flames players have not been called this year. A disproportionate amount IMO.

No one is asking for perfection, just be consistent or at least make the call the same way from start to finish.

What bothers me the most about officiating and offiating apologists is that they love to talk about how difficult it is, the ref's are human and make mistakes, etc, etc. Great. My job is difficult and if I make a mistake, there are consequences. That doesn't seem to be the case with NHL refereeing.

When the opposition player has both arms around you and you have only one hand on the stick, you can’t get the other hand back on until he stops holding you. It it no different from a defenseman pushing a forward into the goalie, if you commit a foul because someone else commits an infraction that forces your body into that situation, you shouldn’t be considered responsible. Besides which, since when is a review allowed to call (not negate) a penalty (other than delay of game) that’s not called on the ice?

As always, it's not the actual calls that are the problem - most contact can be determined to be an infraction if you look at it hard enough - the problem is that the rules are not being applied to both teams equally.

Amidst the 5 consecutive penalties they called on the Flames, there were several blatant infractions committed by the Kings with no call being made.

The reffing in that game was wildly one-sided. Ridiculously.
