This team is still controlling play. Just in a slump. Dumb luck and Markstrom is off right now. Better now than in the playoffs.

Unlike 2019, the Flames are still playing relatively well and are the better team most nights. Just teams are capitalizing on our mistakes big time lately, it seems.

The thing about Tkachuk’s goal crease shenanigans is that even if the ref takes only 1 from each side the Flames lose the better player. Tkachuk’s extra hand grab of Peterson is dumb and something that could cost a playoff game when it matters. Just to keep piling on I watched Tkachuk directly turn it over twice in a row prior to the Kings 1st goal.
Tkachuk is an elite talent but I question he has the humility to be truly a team first player.

In their defense, they absolutely should NOT be calling, or not calling penalties based on the current penalty situation. Each infraction should be evaluated purely on the play.

I can't buy this Markstrom is exhausted stuff. Darryl is a world class coach, and if Marky needed a rest wouldn't he do it? He's not going to do anything detrimental to the team's success. I have to trust in Sutter that he knows what he's doing.

Flames were easily the better team in that period, and were playing a damn solid road game up until the 5 on 3. Those chintzy penalty calls completely changed the momentum.

Markstrom needs to have that first one though. Brutal goal for him to let in when his team was dominating.
